Hey guys! I received my clock and it is beautiful! I have put it in my office and will have to remember to take a camera to photograph it so I can post a pic of it for the board. It is right underneath the 52" flat screen that I do client reviews on, so there is NO CHANCE people will miss it. Can't wait to tell the story about it over and over...

Very happy!!! Thanks Andreas!

Very nice!!!

What makes a fan go bad that one would want to scrap one for this project, or is that just part of the cost which I would guess is up there.

Nice piece to add to a collection. The framed art on the web site is cool as well.

The fans are magnesium and frequently show cracks at the bases of blades, chipped blades, or splitting at the ends of blades. They were nicely painted (or powder coated) at the factory, but as times moves on, fan bearings wear out, which allows the blades to scrape the inside of the fan housing. This removes the coating, allowing moisture to wreak havoc on the exposed magnesium. Each fan I've purchased (or received) has shown one or more of these issues.

FWIW, a new fan (with bearing) is more than $400.

Thanks Andreas!

Good to know and I'll keep an eye on that. I knew I should have bought that Lexus LFA for the reliability aspect.

$400!!! Cripes...the price of that fan blows!
