Default The C4S is here & I'm trying on wheels...

I recently bought Mark Wilson's C4S & following a good PPI & full 90k service at Ruf Auto Center (thanks Hans) I had the car transported up from Dallas. The car arrived yesterday in crappy weather & I spent the couple of hours I had to spare just looking around & getting to know it. So far, I love it & I'm happy that I found a well looked after car that is a great looking driver - rather than a pristine example that I'd rather look at than drive. I also wanted to buy a car from a trusted source & with literally thousands of posts on Pelican & here, Mark has proved to be a great guy who accurately described the car. I was not able to spend the time flying down to Dallas, so yesterday was my first sight of the car.

The interior really is stunning - I've always been a lover of the silver / boxster combination & the FULL leather interior in this car is just gorgeous. The original owner was very smart to order the deviating black carpets. Can't wait to get the Leatherique slathered all over it!

The car came with a great list of options & was manufactured through the exclusive program. As with all of my cars, I'll soon be stepping onto the slippery slope in a pair of leather soled shoes....

Some of you may already know that I'm a bit of a wheel freak. I've been buying/collecting sets for years & each of my cars has a few sets that I like to switch between. Luckily I've purchased a few sets over the years specifically for the WB 993 & I tried some of them on the car yesterday to see which I might prefer. I'd be interested in knowing what everyone thinks:

Kinesis K58's

Ruf Modular's:

Cargraphic Turbo R's in 19" (front wheel is the wrong direction)

I also have a set of Techart Daytona's & a set of HRE C21's that I'll be trying on soon!

First I would like to say congrats on the car. Very nice example and love the interior. Personally I like the first set of wheels (K58). The step lip is less bling but I like it more and it's more sturdy. The third set just doesn't do it for me and I find 19's to be too big for a 993.

BTW nice 996. Is it an ex koni car or a new 996 spec car?

I love the color combo. Isn't that interior Chestnut? I think the color code is BM. The aluminum accent brake handle and shifter are gorgeous. I wish I could find a set. Personally, I think the Turbo Twists are the best wheels of the bunch. Perhaps the other wheels would look better at a lower ride height.

Big fan of stock Turbo Twist's too, but #3 would be my last choice by far. 1 and 2 are decent but I'd save the money and keep it stock if it were me.

Congrats. Great and unusual color combo.

Interior is definitely boxster red... The pictures above are actually pretty accurate in depicting the color. The suspension hadn't settled fully between wheel xchanges so it does seem to sit a little higher.

I agree that the Cargraphics are a but much on the 993 - they do look better in person tough.

delanobe - Ruf & Kinesis wheels are ricer in your opinion...???

Sorry all - never been a fan of the twists!

Sorry guys but the twist just doesn't do it for me, they're just to plain.

Delanobe, the Kinesis K58 are not that far off your RH3.6 pictured in your avatar. A 3 piece 5 spoke wheel with step lip is far from being rice. Can't get anymore classic then that!!

Never been a fan of Kinesis wheels but I like the one piece ruf wheels a lot better.

They look wrong on this car, don't know why.

I'm sorry if my comment was a bit to direct.

I LOVE the car btw

I picked up some 17" Kinesis like those in a widebody fitment several years ago. Never used them on the street, as they had Hoosiers mounted on them. But just looking at the car when they're installed at the track they sure look plain. Now that the C4S will never, ever, ever see track duty again, I'd like to convert them to narrowbody fitment for the RSA/yellow car.

Congratulations on the car Nurburger! I was one of many "too late" to the feeding frenzy for that car (i.e. an hour after the original FS post)!

I would vote for the Cargraphics, but I've not been looking a wheels too much, so there you go...

What a shop and a half you have there! Do you recommend a particular lift? And where do you get the wheel cradle/rollers (don't know what they're called)?

Congratulations again on the car - I'm glad to see here on this site.
