Default Austin restaurants?

We're visiting Austin this weekend ... any restaurant recommendations?

Mexican, fajitas ... maybe one nice one for Sat. night.

TIA!

Can't help on the mexican food. But definitely make the trip down to the Salt Lick south of Austin - about 20 miles. Best BBQ anywhere and lots of it. BYOB.

Have fun. I think that we will finally get a couple of rain-free days.

Awesome. Tried to edit the "OT" into the title, but no go.

Thanks, folks.

family and i went to chewy's if i"m spelling that right, we really enjoyed it. we love salsa and they let you get your own. it is a very casual atmosphere if that's what you're looking for.

Patrick's advice is very, very sound..... If you only even slightly like BBQ, The Salt Lick is an experience that shouldn't be missed.

Give the food trucks/stands a try too - one of my faves is Taqueria Star for tacos, corner of Congress and East Riverside

I think it is spelled Chuey's. We went to one in San Antonio- and would certainly recommend.

Actually it's spelled Chuy's. It's very good for a chain, but I think there are better local Mexican restaurants. I just don't know what is still there and what's new and hot since it has been a while for me.

There was always Knebel's Tavern in Pflugerville. Awesomest brisket North, South, East, AND West of the Pecos!
