Default Tech art fogs

After seeing Niche's RUF for probably the last time today, sob, i reminded myself how i really like the looks of the Techart "rectangular" fogs.

Rumor has it that they are a modified part from a gen II or III VW golf.

Threads titled;

Pictures of L bracket on TechArt fog lights

and

Replacement lights for TechArt Fog/brake duct combos?

by Caveman from 2006 give tantalizing hints.

Have you done this and found a VW crossover P/N?

I'm just interested in getting the lights, not the ducts and hardware.

I'll do some research this week to and let you know what i find.

Cheers

Craig

It does look like they are VW Golf Mk3 '92-'98 Fog lights. Look here:

http://www.autohausaz.com/search/pro...15015@Foglight

And Here:

http://www.performance-cafe.com/prod...roducts_id=879

I used the part # listed in thread you listed to find it. The pics looks identical to the ones shown in the Pictures of L bracket on TechArt fog lights thread.

VW Mk3:

BTW, autohausaz.com is were I got my 993 headlight lenses for $57 (new). There have been recommended on RL before. The other link above came via google, so no guarantees.

Anyone know if the lights will mount without the ducts and hardware.

The square fogs with ducts appear to replace the OEM foglight.

Now that the lights are found, where can you get the proper ducts for the VW lights?

I don't think mounting them will be too challenging.
I'll have to fab a bracket, but i'm not sure what to do to make it look "cool" with the extra "empty space" because..............................

I'm pretty sure that the typical ducts we buy from the aftermarket are all too long L- R, the Techart ducts are short L - R to fit within the existing opening along with the fogs.

any chance we can get a photo of this installation?
I'd like to see how He / She solved the fill-the-blank-space problem.

cheers

I can't add to much more, but sourcing the fog light is not so much the issue - it's the duct. TechArt found a niche & it really looks great - very Porsche/German OE IMHO. Here's a nice shot:

When you look carefully to the picture of the Hella and the Techart fog lights, you will see that the latter is modified to house the 5W parking/driving light in the upper/middle corner of the lens.

+1. No positioning light in the VW Golf III lights. Positioning lights are mandatory in Europe..

Craig
Craig,

I have a set of "full" ducts (i.e. fill gap between bumperette and inner bumper opening contour). They are a bit rough and have some holes from mounting that would need to be filled. But the price is right if you want something to experiment with. I'd let them go for $60 if you want 'em.

I've since gotten some Turbo S ducts to retain the light and I'll never get around to prepping the "full" ducts for paint anyway!

David
