Default 993 1998 285hp ecu re- mapping

New to Forum

I have a 1998 993 cab with many upgrades including Fabspeed 200 cell sport cats, airbox and maxflows which I love and made a huge improvement sound and performance but interested if anyone has remapped their ECU? I see that Fabspeed can do so using the EVOMsit software. Any other application recs? Thanks

really there isn't a lot out there. There is GIAC (the one Rensport sells), Steve Wong (only does 95's) & another one that I can't remember. You can also do a piggy back ECU system that is fully user programable for the cars modifications, like the Unichip.

We do have some custom mapping thats applicable to your configuration.

Be very careful of the Unichip as the results are only as good as the person who sets it up and that, IMHO takes some experience with air-cooled engines.

i recall, a long time ago, i had an autothority chip in my '95 993. it made a big difference in performance -the car became much more responsive. i wonder if the chips and reflashes sold nowadays give the same effect. i remember the dealer was very surprised about the change in my car.

Here in the Uk, a custom map from a recognised tuner, seems to result in approx 320bhp.
Another advantage of the custom map, is that the guy checks everything first, from plug wires through to correct operation of varioram solenoids and maf,,,you may not get the gains you hope for if you simply mail order a chip and plug it straight in.

Your ECU has a removable, reflashable chip. These cannot be flashed from inside the car nor through the connector; these are SMD's and the chip is unsoldered, re-programmed, and resoldered in place.

I'm not the first nor will be the last to recommend Steve Weiner. You won't find someone more in the know about 993's then Steve....

I used to be able to visit with Steve on business trips to Portland, highlight of the trip. Very bright guy...incredible reputation, Rennlist technical advisor, Guru...you name it.

Another nod for Steve Weiner. I have the Rennsport ECU and couldn't be happier. The best money I've spent on my 993 hands down.
