Default OT - the word on Fabspeed?

I am new here but there seem to be a lot of animosity towards fabspeed? it seems like they are the only company to offer a comprehensive power upgrade for the 993 for relatively affordable pricing (exhaust starting at $850) and stand behind their product (life time warranty). Their claims may raise a few eyebrows but I don't think it's outrageous enough to being bashed on in every post? Besides, no one is naive enough to believe 100% of any marketing claims right?

Maybe they royally screwed RL in the past thus they deserve everything coming at them.

Anyway, just an unbiased observation.

They do get a rough ride when they post here. From what I've seen they don't answer any questions in regards to their hp gain claims.

Actually, they have been answering everything I have seen for the past few years. The animosity came from a few years back...there is a lot of repressed hostility on this forum.

Search is your friend. Here's the synopsis. Many years ago, Fabspeed came onto Rennlist and made outrageous claims about HP increases. Fabspeed also bashed Robin Sun's RSR mufflers. When John D. banned Fabspeed, Joe came on with an alias to try and hawk his goods. This did not make John happy. Moreover, when asked about where the pipes are made, Fabspeed remains very evasive, not stating outright if the products are made in the US or overseas.

What's interesting is that there have been a couple of DACH pipe threads where "Fly911" comes on and posts about Fabspeed products and how much better they are than the DACH offerings. One of these just occurred this week.

Disclosure: I own Fabspeed Supercups and DACH X pipes. I like both products. I have ordered from Fabspeed before and have been happy. However, the recent posts by Fly911 in support of Fabspeed products when DACH's offerings are mentioned make me wonder about what sort of agenda he has.

I don't think the question of where the products are made was ever answered.

Seems like they earned whatever hostility was directed at them...

If you make great products and are honest about them people will buy them.

There is a recent post about the hp claims that went unanswered. I think they just need some PR help. They might do just fine without pushing the power gain aspect so hard.

A few years ago, I had a different SC. I put a Fabspeed cat by-pass on it. Positively best mod of the buck I have done in 38 years of 911 ownership.

Then those would be posts that I did not see..........

If they claim it, they should prove it or STFU.

Fair enough?

I did find the new sport / bypass cats x-pipe style to be interesting. Eventually I'd like to move to a sport cat, probably not with my supercups still on though...

What I think people are responding to is the tone of the advertising, which would be more appropriate for a carnival or flea market. Combine that with a knowledgeable, enthusiast audience as we have here, and you'll have some sniping.

People in this forum tend to know what they're doing and have sensitive BS detectors. This isn't the JC Whitney catalogue. So when you come on the forum and call your exhaust system "Ultimate Power" and declare that "The kit really made a big improvement on the Top end Horsepower side and also made a nice increase in Torque on the low end side" and you claim that "This kit is designed for maximum HP and TQ and it does just that," you ought to be able to back up the hucksterism with some numbers.

We're not 16-year-olds who would buy muffler bearings and turn signal fluid. But Fabspeed never backs up the claims. Until they do, they'll deserve the crap they get here.

How are they suppose to prove it without any doubt?

Seriously?

1) Start by being honest.
2) Don't bash competitors.
3) Don't come onto Rennlist under an alias after being asked to leave.
4) Perform objective dyno tests and post the results
no matter how unfavorable.

Fabspeed seems to have a good rep in the 944 turbo section & a friend & fellow Rennlister has their system on his car. That said, I will definitely be contacting FDM for one of their systems as they have shown that they are not only passionate about their products, but also their place on this forum as "one of us".

Even a simple before and after run on a dyno would help credibility.

I for one (many??) have had fitment issues with Fabspeed products.

I was less than impressed with their response and because of that - will tell others what my experience was - good or bad - just so happens it this case it was bad.

Reap what you sew. Karma and all that other hocus-pocus ****. (just like their HP claims)

Simon.
