Finally, an alternative to Bilstein HDs!
I have Koni yellows on the 968 and they are great. Looks lie they have finally decided to let the 964/993 guys in on the action. Adjustability that's a lot cheaper than PSSwhatevers.

This sounds like a great alternative. Hopefully someone will try them and report back soon. I am looking to lower my car and firm it up a bit, nothing too extreme. I am thinking these adjustable Konis with ROW M033 springs may be just the ticket.

Bart:
Would you have any idea, based on your experience with the 968, how the ride resulting from the Yellows / M033 combination would compare to that with stock springs with fresh Monroe's?
I want to go to ROW height, with ride quality the same as stock. My car is street only.
TIA.

The Koni Sport Yellow units are externally adjustable for rebound on the front and rear.

Ok, perhaps you were speaking of the FSD...that's correct, they are a different animal...but a really cool animal! We just had an online Koni Dealer meeting and McLaren F1 will once again run Koni's with FSD technology for 2010.

I think you may be thinking of the Sport Yellows which have been (somewhat) available for the 964 for a while. The FSD units were just released and they're not user adjustable.

I will also give huge props to Jason! Great guy and has always been extremely helpful when I called. And orders from them are like clockwork - in 2 days they are at my house.
Rinty - I would guess on thier softest setting, they would probably approach the "softness" of the factory shocks. I would bet that your stock shocks are blown and you would like this upgrade, even if a bit stiffer.

I guess that's what I had. The fronts were actually inserts. And yeah, somewhat available sounds right since 9 out of 10 stores don't carry them. Thanks for the clarification.

At one point in time Koni made the the complete front strut for the 964...then they introduced the 8641-1365 Sport "cut the strut" inserts that you had. The rears became problematic then too. These new applications should make things much better as they are complete struts again.

It would be interesting to hear about ride quality. The concern I had with the HDs was the complaints over harsh dampening (or whatever your call it) so I spent the extra $700 for the PSS10s. I have no regrets. A less expensive option other than the factory stuff would be great.
