SOLD - CDR 220 with Faceplate Modified for the 993
SOLD SOLD SOLD
This is an extremely clean CDR-220. I just sent the faceplate in to Becker and had it replaced with one modified so that the readout can be seen in a 993. With shipping, exchanging the faceplate cost $115. I also requested and got the newer model number 6625 faceplate with the brush finish.
The radio comes with the security code and a printout of the online manual.
If you are in the Los Angeles area I’ll even install it for you. This is an easy swap out with the CDR 210 and CR 210 radios.
$275 shipped.

+1. I thought (and still do think) that I got a pretty decent deal at $185 for mine that doesn't have the faceplate mod done yet (and didn't have the code). Someone is going to get a nice radio at a very good price.

The CDR 220 arrived today (before Chuck has even cashed the check) perfectly packaged, and in exactly the great condition described.... Just wanted to let everyone know that Chuck is a first class gent to deal with; obviously good karma is important to him.
Now I just hope the check doesn't bounce
Thanks Chuck.

I just installed a CDR220 in a '95 that had had major wire butchery done to it to put in a JVC. I have the HiFi option, I needed another cable from the HiFi amp under the passenger seat to replace the butchered one, and an adapter that goes from the pre-amp out on the CDR220 to the HiFi cable (got that from SWS). I had the faceplate mod done by Becker and got the other wiring harness (speakers/power) from Becker. Also decided to spring for the hardcopy manual from them.
My CDR220 is about 1/8 too wide to fit into the 993 dash, I am not willing to manhandle or pound it, so it's not perfectly flush, sticks out about 1/4" from the dash, but it's a big improvement over the crap silver/dancing blue graphics JVC that was in there.

The cage that held the JVC is out, there's nothing in there, there must be something at the back that's an issue. I'm fairly certain it's not the cabling... I gave up messing with it

I have links for PDF versions of both the CDR 220 & 210. I'll post them in a separate posting tonight when I get home. And yes.... I'll bet the cage is still in there. Be careful not to cut your hands when taking it out.

I need to slide my new 220 back the final inch or two but I think the cables are blocking it. Can the glovebox be easily removed for more access to the back of the unit?

I found the trick is to reach under the dash and gently push/pull the wires behind the headunit out of the way as you slowly slide it back into place. It's pretty tight in there but I could just get my fingers up far enough to push the wires out of the way.
