Default Coupe RSD pictured

[Darn page break Recommend you scan my preceeding post, at bottom of page 1.
Amongst other things, confirming black "handle bars" are only delivered on OEM cab rear luggage dumps.]

Big thanks to RLer PorscheRalph for the following:

I have a file of photos from another Rennlist member of the removal of cab rear seats and install of rear seat delete. If anyone is interested give me a PM.
BTW, he sent me the illustrated DIY - very helpful, good info. If anyone wants me to try to post the PDF (Adobe Reader document) here, just let me know.

More wise RSD words from Porsche Ralph:

If you try to install a coupe rear seat delete in a cab you will have a very tight fit and it may not work all that well.

I do not think there was a difference between the 964 and 993 rear seat delete parts.

Corresponding 964 RSD PET diagram below.
BTW, this dcAuto.com parts page (no affiliation) implies a new, complete rear luggage dump is >$2,600... gulp!

This photo's from the ^^ Do-It-Yourself instructions.

Nearing completion, after author swapped out back seats in favor of the rear luggage dump:

I really wish the hype or interest would die off for these things because my patience is fading. I have wanted one for 2+ years now but I guess I'm not willing to pay the crazy prices. I would also prefer one in rough shape because I want to customize it a bit.

Here a two shot of my install. I eliminated the center bar and the two hoops.
I also made a custom mat for the top with the Porsche logo.

Due to requests to e-mail the document, & suspicion that it would be helpful here, shared with others directly on RL: I converted it from PDF (too large for RL's posting limits), & posted it to a DIY thread yesterday.
Today, I stumbled across what must be the original author's DIY in the archive section. Had I figured that out a day earlier, there would have been a much more elegant solution.

As it is, you can now enjoy Howdy993 (Howard)'s DIY in three places:

- 2008's "Rear Seat Delete DIY" posted by Howard in the 993 Forum, with my revival addition today
- Yesterday's "993 cab Rear Seat Delete installation" thread posted by me in the "DIY Submission Forum"
- 2008's "The 993 Cabriolet Rear Seat Delete DIY" posted by Howdy993 in the 993 DIYs and "How To" Archive

P.S. For bringing more attention to RSDs ... all due apologies to Cactus, who's trying to beat Mike's shopping skillz, which - IIRC - included pre-cut subwoofer holes:

P.P.S. If I'm reading their page right -- hopefully not -- a new RSD from AutoAtlanta.com starts at ~$3,500 USD

That looks nice! I would do the exact same; ditch the bars and the center bump. I like the rear subs/speakers, too.

I have just accepted the fact that I will have one custom made from scratch. I'm thinking a thin piano hinge at the back so the whole "floor" section will lift up like a toy box lid as opposed to the glove box doors.

Jeff, did you add extra snaps to keep the boot cover flaps from flying around?
