Engine oil should be changed at least once a year, so I think theres a few more dollars you need to spend

You fix that check engine light? Sorry, I just had to ...

I thought the oil needed to be changed only every 5k miles or so? I guess I'll get to it in the Spring then if it really needs to be changed every year regardless of mileage.

As for the CEL? Uh, I put a piece of black gaffers tape over that part of the gauge. What CEL?

Fixed, right?

I would love to say, but I don't want to jinx my winning streak.

Here's a clue: I had one repair, a broken window switch. Cost: one finishing nail.

OMG, how many tickets did you get?? Hope it wasn't a DUI! My B in L rolled/totaled his Cayenne Turbo late last year and got the DUI ticket to boot. Have no idea what that wound up costing him (other than 5 days in jail).

I spent around $500

-$230 for an oil change
-$100 for a rattling shifter
-$100 to have my 3rd brake light rewired

**You got off easy in 2009 Steve. Not much more than good sack of your license plate.

Do acquisition costs count?

ZERO DOLLARS, BABY! I did not spend one thin dime on my 993 in 2009. No maintenance, no mods, no nothin.

I drove about 3500 miles in 2009. And I will be getting the oil changed in January.

Hmm, let's see:

- New clutch (cha-ching!)
- Set of Elephant Racing front A-arm bushings
- New set of Michelin PS2s
- Four wheel alignment

None of it was strictly a necessity (with the possible exception of the clutch), but I think it was well worth the money considering the amount of pleasure I get from the car.

I expect that the cost of ownership to be lower in 2010 (wishful thinking? )

I've been incredibly lucky. I bought my car in October and have driven it 8,000 miles. Other than tires and an oil change, I have only have to replace the DME relay, $27.00 from Pelican Parts. I have 66k on her and so far everything is perfect. This is my second 911 and have only had great experiences with them. The previous owner spent $42,000 in the 14 years he owned the car. I guess I am benefiting from that.
