It's actually 100X. If you get light enough rimz, it cancels out the weight of the car and you can fly. Seriously.

Ok sorry, I was just playing around. Yes, losing unsprung weight is better than losing sprung weight. But it's nowhere near 10X. If it was, you could put some 16" Fuchs with spacers on your car with 205/225 tires. It would handle terribly and look ridiculous, but it would accelerate like a rocket because it would be the equivalent of 400-500 pounds of weight loss. But unfortunately that's not even close to the reality. I don't know what the exact ratio is; actually, I've never seen a scientific claim on this, only the sermonizing of internet experts. And as Mark Twain said, "an expert is a guy from out of town." This is why everyone on the internet is an expert -- because we're all from out of town.

Noah, thanks for making me feel financially raped! I paid $1600 shipped.

Well, I bought mine a couple of years ago...so the price has probably gone up. Don't feel too bad.

I got my MY02s from Nitrous Garage, google them, they take trades, so they periodically have various wheels in stock, Greg was great to work with, no problems.

No, this is as close as they have gotten to the car, I figure since the car is in storage for the winter, no sense in putting them on and letting the tires flat spot. The MY02's are the Christmas present for my car!

I've got Boxster spec wheels on my car and they work out just fine ... paid $1,000 incl. shipping from a Rennlister. I took off knock-off twists that weighed a ton. I didn't weigh these, but they were really light.

I would assume the Boxter fitment would be lighter than the 996 fitment. They are 7.5 and 9 as opposed to 8 and 10. If unsprung weight is the primary goal, it's probably the way to go.
Because of the different offset (52, I think) it probably looks the same...

Based on posts I have read, the weights of the Carrera and Boxster MY02 wheels are as follows:

10 x 18 ET65 22 lbs 14 oz

Borbet Made OEM Boxster MY02:

7.5 x 18 ET50 20 lbs 9 oz
9 x 18 ET52 22 lbs 13 oz
