Anyone considered an F360

I equate the Ferrari's to pcars like this:
993 = 355. Love them, valve guide issues and all.
996 = 360. Both great looking, fast cars. But sooo many out there and hard to get passionate about them.
I have seen an been offered an opportunity to buy nice 360s in the 70s - 80s. And we have several excellent Ferrari shops locally (RUF has the best Fcar tech in the region), but I just can't bring myself to do it. However, 355s are very tempting. I will NOT trade my Turbo R for one though.

Is a Ferrari really built to go 100k+? I've never thought of them like that but don't have first hand experience with them. I just don't think of them as cars that you would want to mile up due to the maintenance liabilities let alone the depreciation.

I was seriously pursuing 355's last year, but I would not, could not, have let the C2S go in exchange. Totally different engineering and design philosophies (one practical, the other not so much). The 360 is mechanically better than the 355, but I was not as enamoured with the styling. The 430 is prettier and even more reliable...perhaps by the time I can once again afford to consider an Fcar, 458 Italias will be cheap!

the 355 has that incredible ***... and the 360 does not... the 355 has a rather dated looking front end... and the 360s front end is ok, especially if you like the Pontiac Firebird. i imagine wind tunnel testing led to the 360 and 430 shapes...
i am just wondering why driving 20 k miles causes a Ferrari to get so bent out of shape... if the 360's engine is running at 15 - 25 % of capacity 80-90 % of the time like a Corvette is doing, why then are the cars so tired ?
especially when you're talking about the level of comprehensive service going on with these cars at such short intervals... unless of course, most owners drive around punching down on the gas every few seconds... I guess we are not talking CLK-Class Mercedes type reliability here.

$37k for this 355 Spyder ... needs the belt service, though.

But man, that's a hot looking car.

hey, i figured out a great way to have a 360 as a daily driver... sell the motor and install an lsx chevy motor...
i did not scroll down to see it's the timing belt. well... even if all the service was done, you'd still be looking at doing it again in the not so distant future... if you want a car like this [i assume, requiring the motor come up off it's mounts OFTEN], wouldn't it still be fun at this price ?...
in any case, i am going to get a Modena for sure one of these days.

I'd just be too scared to drive or own a Ferrari. The cost of ownership is just ridicioulous. I mean, come on, all that money for a belt? They put the fear of god into you if it's not done at a certain time as well.
Like most here I also look at Ferrari chat and read all the horror stories. Granted there are one or two not so bad stories.
Why are they so fragile?
They need to be a lot cheaper to buy for what you really get IMO.
