Wow! I missed this thread on the first go around. Congratulations and thank you for sharing. Restoring these cars must be a deeply satisfying and therapeutic profession.

Here's some more progress. Hood seals, bumpers and side deco strips are on. She's really looking like a new 912 now ....

Here's my new screen saver ...

Awesome thread.

The 912 was the first Porsche I ever rode in. It was my roommates car in college. His dad was the president of the AMA and he gave it to him to use. It was light blue and made my heart beat increase each time I saw it. When I rode in it for the first time, I dreamed of the day I might get a 912 or 911. I couldn't believe a car could handle like that.

JP...

Awesome, just awesome.
My uncle did a factory delivery in 1967. He drove through Europe in it for a bit and then had it shipped to the States. His beauty was my introduction to Porsche....green with tan interior. He had a detached garage that he kept it in and when I was a kid I would make him take me for a ride in it whenever we went to visit. Just like Steve...this is where my heart was 'stolen' by mother Porsche and where it shall forever be. Congratulations and thank you for this post and your restoration of a piece of Porsche history!

I had a crazy friend that had a janitorial business where he worked at night. He used to pick me up in his Speedster at 1 or 2a.m. and we'd drive to San Francisco and watch the hookers work the Tenderloin. One night, he shows up in a virtually new dark Green '67 912 Soft Window Targa with Caramel leather interior that his mothers boyfriend let him take for the evening. The guy had bought it new and picked it up in Germany then had it shipped back to the states and drove it across the country back to California, and basically put it away. What a night that was! Even with the top off, the smell of the new leather in that car made you dizzy .... That friend of mine, and all those drives in the middle of the night ruined me forever. I used to get back into my 68 Camaro Z28 and think ...'What a piece of crap this is".

So, we're off the dolly finally, sitting on all fours! Can't wait to get the engine back from detail and in so we can set the car down to european ride height, the 'crabwalk' ain't pretty ....

Here's some parting shots before the car was sent down to Tony's for upholstery:

Detail inside the trunk is coming along, looking like a new 912 ...

Nothing like an early, straight 901 body ...

The eye's are in!

I know folks are always looking for ways to reduce curb weights but that car needs just a bit but that beauty is dying for a bit more:-)
Very much looking forward to more photos once the motor and other goodies install.
