Default DIY steps for HID kit?

I did a search for DIY HID and did not see anything. The directions in the Sharp HID kit I bought are very confusing. Does anyone have any pics of how they ran the wires on the 993 head lights? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks, Jake

I bought the same kit which arrived on Thursday. I had a look at the pieces and it doesn't seem like it will be too big of a task. I've just been digging through the archives. There are quite a few threads. Here is one of the links I found:

I probably won't be installing it right away as the car is coming off the road for the winter this week.

Here is another one. I'm not sure he chose the easiest way?

I just got the same kit from them and the directions are terrible! I will be installing mine today. I will let you know how it goes.

I'm in the same boat. Going to try the install today. Everyone says it's easy, but there are no clear step-by-step instructions out there.

Good luck!

Edit: Is it really necessary to disconnect the battery?

Jake:

Here's a good one; see richardew's post 48:

Sorry if this is a repeat. My kit's (from Xenon Depot) instructions were confusing as well. I copped out and let my tech install it. I can twist wires and all that, but I wanted professional connections.

Are you going to put in, uh, any other lights?

Appologies if this is a repeat of anything posted above. I searched a number of threads on the board and this one is the best for these slim kits that fit in the headlight bucket. I didn't want to modify anything on the car that I couldn't reverse so it was the perfect solution. It should open on page 3 then look at posts 45 through 57. I am not running any in-line fuses as the new generation kits draw less current than the original Halogen system. I got the yellow bullet connectors from Ace Hardware and decent wire strippers have a crimping tool built into the handle (excuse if you know this already, I didn't).

Thanks very much to everyone for the help on this project. When I initially opened up the box I saw all these wires and then I grabbed the instructions and they made no sense. After looking at the pics from the prior threads it all made sense and all the wires just plugged into each other. That left me with only the posative and negative to plug in. All said and done, took less than an hour! Eveything works like it is supposed too. Now I am thinking about changing out the lights on the wife's Odyssey. Another slippery slope!

Jake:

To confirm:

The red wire from the new kit goes to the existing yellow wire.
The black wire from the new kit splices into the existing brown wire.

Correct?

Do you have to disconnect the battery? Reason I ask is, last time I disconnected the battery, the ar stalled for a few weeks while everything 're-set'.

Thanks,

Paul.

Paul, you are correct on the colors. I did not disconnect the battery because I did everything with the headlights out of the car. Therefore no connections were made while it was hot.

I did not want to splice into OEM wiring so I bought two bullet connectors for the black ground wire and pluged directly into the OEM wiring with no splices. If the HID ever goes out you can take out the HID buld and put the OEM one back in and plug factory connections back up without any problems.

Where exactly did the black wire go? Did you get a picture?

Paul,

The black wire on the HID wiring attaches to the brown (OEM) wire, which is grounded to the headlight with the bullet connector. You should only have to hook up the yellow factory wire with the red and then do the black to the brown....You are then done.
I took the car out last night when it got dark. All I can say is what a difference. I agree 100% with all the other HID post that say it is the best $100 mod going.
