No problems thus far, although living in So Cal in the summer time, I rarely use the headlights.

I bought some aftermarket HID similar to the ones grmnxtc had but the ballasts must have been a little larger than his because I couldn't quite fit them into the housing. Anyways, went back to ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...148957457&rd=1found these new(to me anyways) slim HID ballasts. With these new thinner ballasts they fit into the housing very easily. Here's a few pics with the old and new ballast side to side as well as them installed. Had them in just a couple of days but they seem to work great.

No affiliation/relation to the ebay seller.

The ballasts on the top (with the yellow sticker) are similar to the ones I have. It is a tight fit, but they did fit inside.

I bought a super slim kit 2 weeks ago. I had to file out the hole for the bulb though. There was a dremmel bit that was perfect for the job. I also had to fabricate springs to hold the bulbs in. They are a bit larger than the OEM bulbs and it threw off the geometry for the OEM springs.

Rich,

I should have mentioned that. I had to shave the hole a little bit as well.

I just modified the existing spring a little bit to hold the bulb in.

Are the modifications necessary for all the conversion kits available?

The mods were trivial. 2 seconds with the dremel to make the hole accept the lights. 10 minutes with a coat hanger to make new springs. Now, if you are smart enough to purchase a 993, and agile enough to drive it, you have got the right stuff to do these simple mods.

+1

You only are shaving an1/8 of an inch on each side of the housing to accept the bulb. And I just rebent the existing spring

Stupid question: these are for low beams and is it possible to install bi-xenons? Thanks, Jack

I bought that exact same kit a few months ago, from the same eBay seller. No mods to the bulb housing were required to fit into my '96 Targa. I did modify the ballast connectors to use a bullet-style plug for connecting to the headlight housing. That way I didn't have to cut/splice the factory wiring.

No affiliation with the seller, just a happy customer.

Order the H1 kit with whatever color temp you want (I went with 4300 K). Email the seller as described in the auction listing, tell him what year/model of car you have, that you have H1 bulbs, and what color temp you want. In the auction he also requests you specify what type of wiring harness you want (with or without relay). I wasn't sure, so I just told him what type of car I had. He told me for my car I did *not* need the wiring harness with the in-line relay, but ask him to be sure.

Mine have worked flawlessly.

Best,

Chris
