Geir, I'm set to see the car tonight after work. I'll let you know how it goes.

An early Turbo gone wrong could really make you broke in a second, so be cautious...

Geir,

Okay, I've seen the car and will try to make this as detailed as my fast-degrading memory allows. First, I would rate the exterior of the car a 9 out of 10. No dings or scratches anywhere. The only blemish I found was on the front chin spoiler which had a small chuck of fiberglass missing and a rock chip on the windshield. Fix those two things and drop the ride height by an inch and you'll have a perfect-looking car from the outside (according to the owner the car has Bilsteins installed).

I rate the interior a 7 out of 10. It was decent-looking but had that worn look. Oh, it has one of those cheap Radio Shack-looking radios. The passenger seat is not bolted down to the floor well (explained below).

From there, everything unfortunately goes downhill. I asked to go for a ride around the neighborhood which he was okay with...as long as he was driving. I didn't push the issue even though he did watch me drive up in my 993. Leaving his driveway, he steps on the gas and the car starts sputtering and jerking. He said that was because the car was cold. Is that normal 930 Turbo engine behavior? I honestly don't know. By the time we got to the end of the street the jerking was already gone.

We took a short ride to another neighborhood where he proceeds to drive like a madman to show me how powerful the car is. It's definitely faster than my 993 but also definitely rougher. I was half expecting the engine to explode at high revs...sure sounded like it. It was during this time where he took some pretty quick turns and my seat decided to show me how unsecured it is. Freaked me out! By the way, it was also down one of these streets where we got flipped off by a ninety year old dude on his evening stroll. He didn't like all the ruckus we were making.

Price...he said he'll let me have it for $24k. At that price, I personally would look for a REAL 993 instead. Just my humble opinion of course. Let me know if you have any questions. I'm sure I missed something. Hope that helps.

Oh, forgot to mention that it's obvious that the car does not have power steering. Just an observation.

Hello Gino.

First of all, I'm sorry U guys got flipped. That is to be expected on occation driving a Porsche.

I am grateful for Your time. It really helps getting an opinion from other than a dealer. You know how that goes.
I offered him 15K for it some days ago, he came back with an counteroffer of 23K. I agree with You, to that price its better to get the real 993.

Out of curiosity, what would You say is a fair price for this replicar?

Again, I'm grateful for Your assistance in the matter.

Enjoy,
Geir

Geir, happy to do it for a fellow Rennlister I would estimate that $20k would be a fair price for this car considering how well the exterior looks. I didn't get to drive it and didn't get a good look at the engine so I don't know what "hidden gems" can be found underneath that beautiful exterior. For myself, I look at it this way...if I had $20 laying around to use for an additional car, I'd probably get a used Honda S2000 or M3 instead.
