I am IN! I am not in a 993, hope you don't mind my taillights though...
I love the Tail and haven't been in a long time... Last time I did get yelled at by a trooper... Late March should be pretty nice though. Also a +1 for the Cherohala Skyway - amazing views.
I haven't been down the one in the blue box yet (I don't think) but hey - I'm up for a trip...

According to google maps, the trip from Franklin to TOTD is 1.5 hours. Maybe we can find a place to meet in Franklin? I'll be coming down 19 (in your picture) from Gatlinburg, so I could preview it on the way down and lead on the way back to the dragon. Or we can come up with a way to make a big loop out of the area

I went with the Raleigh PCA earlier this summer. It was a good time and we didn't get hassled by any troopers. In fact you can see a shot of me concentrating on one of the bends in my signature.
Keep me in the loop as I'm definitely interested in going again!

I am going to disagree a bit about route 28. 28 is OK but it is more congested with local traffic until you get well past Cowee Valley (local deliveries, trucks, mail, etc...) Also it is under construction out of Franklin for the next two years. My father-in-law lived out that way for over 20 years and maybe we are just too used to the road but the Hellbender and TOD are much better. Not even a question. TOD is famous for a reason. To the OP, I would stick to your regular plan as it is the best and will probably be the most fun for the majority of owners who want to meet up with you. I've been in this area (family) since the late 70's and permanently for 7+ years now. It is all subjective to what roads people like and dislike but I have a general idea. Also as far as law enforcement on the TOD, they are mostly after crazy bikers and are fussy about you being out of your one lane. Quite understandable due to fatalities each and every year. Like anywhere else on the planet, if you drive like a fool, then you might get stopped. Drive within your limits and you won't be bothered. I've done over a dozen treks on the TOD without incident and it is always fun except for inclement weather. Also, if possible, avoid the weekends even though March should not be an issue. Hopefully Killboy will be out taking photos. There are at least two other photographers out there as well but not as scheduled as Killboy.

Duly noted and thanks for the heads up. Looking for advice from everyone so we can have a good time, safe time and don't end up in BFE
By looking at the maps, seems there a ton a "nice" roads out that way, I'd be fine with making a big loop from where I'll be. We can meet at TOD and I can keep heading north when done, back to G.burg. Having not been before, I'm open to whatever everyone would like to do.

I don't know anybody in person since I just joined a few weeks ago but I really would be interested in going, too! Good chance to meet some nice people...?!
