squeaky noise from dash/windshield area

Can someone help me out on this? It doesn't sound like something's loose making things rattle but rather it's a squeaky noise coming from either the dash or perhaps windshield area. It's pretty noisey and happens if there is a slight imperfection on the pavement which is pretty much on all the streets here in SoCal.
Thanks.
Thanks.

The 993 windshields can suffer from squeaks and the noise can be ameliorated by squirting a modest amount of lubricant under the seal from the outside. There are many older threads on the subject, going back to the earliest days when Porsche first denied there was a problem, then came up with a Factory service kit that installed a gasket (rope) soaked in lubricant. I suspect you'll find many discussions if you search for Pedro's Ice Wax.

Ok, I did the "rope fix" and ordered the silicone rope from the dealer. Stuff the rope around the windshield and everything is nice and quiet as it should be...for 2 days. Now the noise is back!? What gives?

Hey Luke, nevermind these jokesters ![Stick Out Tongue](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
You bought your car at the time of year when those squeaks are most apparent (at least for me). As summer turns to fall and the weather cools you will notice the issue a lot more... I hardly had a peep this summer but am now hearing the windshield much more.
I didn't even try the cord but did buy a silicon-based "dry" spray lubricant that seems to work pretty well.
I'll check the can in the garage and get back to you with product name.

Use motorcycle chain wax. Squirt under the seal all the way around. Repeat every 2 or 3 months. Works
