I wonder if you'll take a hit from these conversions should you ever decide to sell...

Wow, really? Why didn't you just buy a manual C2S instead? Must've cost a fair amount of money to change the transmission and also go from AWD to RWD. I wonder if, with that extra money you spent on the tranny and AWD conversion, you couldn't have sold your C4S and bought a C2S manual instead.

Add 2WD shift box and a front trans mount to augment the AWD trans mount
Takes about $700 in parts from Porsche with a couple of different ways to handle the shift parts.
Not really hard to do and can be reversed in same amount of time it takes to convert. About a day's work.
If you want more info feel free to contact me... I have a parts list and plenty of info.
EDIT: or do what Patrick said above. Took me longer to type

Internally the g64/51 & 52 have the architecture as the g50/20 & 21. The limiting factor for regears besides your wallet are the fixed 1 & 2 which requires a new main shaft to change 1 & 2, other than that, all the 3 =>6 changes that /2x guys can do do you can do too.

I quess my real beef is the 1st and 2nd which I can't really change because the long AWD main shaft does not have the taller 1st gear option

I would look into a 996TT box. I do not know about the conversion for 4WD but with my 993 since I need a trans I have been looking at GT3 and GT2 boxes. With the 2WD it is a fairly straight forward conversion with the shift linkage being the only hangup from it being a direct bolt in (996/7 are cable shift, 993 is not). I have a 997RSR clutch setup in my car so maybe with the stock clutch parts it is more work but I would look into it.

I bought the car this way. It is a full blown RSR replica, factory motorsports everything in the suspension, centerlock wheels, StopTech brakes, Moton SC shocks, the works. It is currently not street legal so resale is not really big on the list but I think it will be ok as I paid $.10 on the dollar of what it cost to build with 18 hours on everything. Nothing on the car is original streetcar really besides the tub and even that has been modified for the cage, sunroof delete, wing etc.
