Targa roof: Who has broken new style rear axle plates
Hi Targa roof experts,
I still plan to mount Bilstein shocks on my 993Targa (MY 1996). But I hesitate because of the risk of breaking a rear axle plates with a too stiff suspension.
At this time, I have only identified some guys who have broken old style rear axle plates.
Have you ever heard of people who have broken new style rear axle plates?
Thanks,
Vincent

I am running PSS-9s, RS bars, and 19" RUFs on my Targa, no problems so far (knock on wood), and its been a few years (with some rough roads).
The axle plates seem to fail more when they are over-tightened. You do not have to reef on the bolts, the inside contact points are grooved to lock together, and the spec is very light, 6/4 ft-lbs (see http://www.pcarworkshop.com/images/a...2000_66010.pdf)
Cheers,
Mike
