OT : Porsche Factory on NatGeo
Maybe this program will be better than the last reminder I posted on the Panamera program. (Should be less contraversial)
Thursday night at 7pm (I assume CT, better check) on National Geographic channel is a program on Porsche's factory at Zuffenhausen.
It should be interesting; part of the Ultimate Factory series.

Nice- I set my DVR a week ago and can't wait to see it. I think they are reshowing it again a couple of hours later as well (as to not to disturb the wife's simultaneous taping of Project Runway and Grey's Anatomy)!

wow.
That was one of the best programs I've seen on the Porsche factory and production. It more than made up for the Panomera commercial. What a good mix of history and engineering information. I had to go out and check out to the garage and just check out mine again after that show.
Man, do I want that blue GT3.

Did a tour 2 + years back, boxer engines were done by one guy, for all stations, he moved with the motor down the line.
Did another tour in early Oct. this year, engine assembly has moved buildings in Zuffenhausen campus now one guy does just one step on the boxer motor assembly for 1.5 hours then changes stations, but only 5 stations total per day, so lots of hands build a single boxer motor now. Made me sad. :-(
Assume this happened when they changed buildings.
I did get to see 2 white cup cars coming together on the assembly line that day, it was interesting to see that the factory staff seemed to pay "extra" attention to those two cars on the line. :-)

I enjoyed watching that. Thanks for the heads up. It's a helluva lot different now than when I saw some old film of a factory guy on his back using his knees to hoist up a rear axle on the production line.
