That's why a Bearcat with a Beartracker is good to have along with a radar detector....not as a replacement but in addition to. Unfortunately all the current models with the Beartracker function are the size of a single DIN radio but I was able to find an older BCT12 which clips to the visor.

This reminds me that I've been meaning to get one of the newer Escorts or Beltrotics that have a GPS function to use alongside the V1

Anyone have any experience with these detectors that download and store speed trap and speed camera locations?

Yes, 9500ci, it works as advertised. Weekly update of locations downloadable via USB.

Best value added is, it locks out falses after 3 passes at the same location. By GPS co-ords and frequency. A cop sitting by the automatic door opener at the Post Office will trigger an alert, but the door by itself won't.

In this new economy, we better get used to the police being out to get us. Property, sales and income taxes are all down, police need funds, have the ability to collect and guess what they are.

My wife and I both received ticky-tack tickets this past month in residential area traps.

Hopefully when the economy improves the police will back off. To protect and serve! (hopefully not serve themselves)

My wife got a ticket while parked at a meter for no front plate on the Boxster S in Columbus Ohio. Guess where we are not going shopping anytime soon? I guarantee the ticket cost Columbus more in revenue given our impending house project than it made the city. Things like that pi$$ me off.

Ditto in LA last month. As I didn't want to pay the rape-you prices for parking I parked on the street overnight and found my souvenir a couple hours later as we were walking to dinner. So I checked us out of the hotel the next morning, and we spent the rest of the weekend in a suburb. So LA got $25 out of me, but lost on two nights hotel tax and probably $40 in sales tax revenue from our dining.

In South Pasadena the meter @sshole, has been known to go onto private property to write a ticket for no front plate. Ask me how I know.

The Po Po now are doing heavy enforcement around the schools for the "safety of the children". Last June 19th they tried a sting with a school bus flashing red lights and not stopping on a very well traveled divided road, Huntington Drive.
They wrote 160 tickets at $500. They had them all thrown out because it is illegal to use flashing red lights when children were not present.

Something else, a lot of them wear black commando pants and combat boots. It makes them look like they are playing dress up.

Wow, I never knew they could go on your private party to write a ticket. That's scary. Thanks for the head's up on that.

I live in Los Angeles and really have noticed the parking and traffic enforcement police extorting more and more.

I guess George Orwell was right about everything, except the year

Felony?!? That's immoral. A felony can really screw things up for a person.

Now we have a blue unmarked dark blue Z06 Vette in the Raleigh/Cary area

Raleigh is now voted the worst speed trap city
