I bought my 1996 coupe from a RL'er in January of 2006 for $39k shipped to LA from Kauai.

The car had 64k miles, a Batphone console, Big reds, RS shift rod and lever, RS motor mounts, MY02 wheels, PSS-9s, KLA strut bar and Euro TT sways from Gert and Tarret droplinks (I think). He was the second owner and put like 20k miles on it in a year and a half tearing around Kauai. It was a lot of money for that car at the time but it had all of the upgrades I had wanted and the owner was very hands on and meticulous (I think he had records of every time he checked the tire pressure). My avatar pic is from the dewy morning I picked it up at the port of LA. What an amazing drive home it was that day!

Here's the original ad from the PO (lots of old guys in the thread):

I bought my 1995 C2 in 2007 for $32k in Charlotte, NC with 62k miles, and drove it back home to the Boston area - best 14 hour drive of my life!

She currently has 95k miles (anxiously waiting to pass 95,993 very soon )

Absolutely love this car!

96 C2 Cab, 89k, $34,000. Bought it March 2020, right before the world stopped. Sweated out the delivery, but luckily it was on truck with a driver from Springfield MA who wanted to get home.

'95 C2 Cab. Bought it December 12, 1997 with 50,891 miles on it for $32.5k. Only mods were an Alpine head unit, Polk Audio speakers, big amp in the frunk and narrow body hollow spokes. I'm 3rd owner, car was sold new at Hoehn Porsche, Carlsbad, CA. Now just over 96k miles.

March/April 2020, 80K GBP, roughly 98.5 USD. 1997 993 C2S manual. I HUGELY overpaid because I was inexperienced, in a hurry, it was day 1 of lockdown, and I was bored.

IMO the price sounds reasonable. Why do you think you overpaid?

Car had some issues that were deliberately and fraudulently hidden by the dealer. a shockingly popular dealer too.

My 993s are long gone, including "the one that got away".

On another note, great to see so many familiar handles and avatars from the mid to late 00's...

My best bought 911 was probably my 96 Polar Silver C4S which I picked up in '07 with 81k mi for $32k. The car was in excellent condition, was owned by a PCA instructor, had a top end already done and came with a one-inch stack of receipts.

Sold my 95 C4 around 2013 for what I paid for it 6 years earlier after 60.000 mi of daily driving. it was the most reliable car I have ever owned, and some of the most fun.
It was replaced with a 2008 BMW M5, as the kid and wife were having a hard time both fitting in the 993 at the same time.

Sold the 97 C4S around 2016 so my wife could go out on her own to start her own business.

In 2018 I got a 2016 991 GT3, and have been very happy with that, but do miss the 993's

In 2011 we replaced the 993 (with over 200k miles on it) with a 996 GT3 that had 16k miles.
The GT3 now has 125k!

One of my favorite pictures. Wish we could have kept the 993...
