Does anybody know this car? Apparently it was traded
to Isringhausen by the original owner who lived in OH.
Just wondering if anyone has looked at it yet.
I'm having a PPI done on the car this Tuesday but wanted to see if anyone knew anything about the car's prior history.
I'm hoping it checks out <crossing fingers>

that car was listed in Ing's daily ad in the Wall St Journal today. I wondered about it when I saw it (they never have pics of course). Nice looking car. Isn't that price a little high, though? With 41K miles you could be looking at a Turbo for less than $15K more.

Not sure about the price.
I REALLY want a white one and there only 4 white C4Ss for sale nationwide on Autotrader.
There are 3 white C2Ss.
Price is in line with asking on the other cars.
I think 41,000 miles is not bad at all. The car is a one owner car and supposedly has no stories.
If it checks out, I'm willing to pay a premium for a PERFECT condition car that is local to me.
I'll save at least $1000 in shipping (or flying out and driving home from somewhere with hotels and gas).
$15k is a lot of money too

Not paying asking but close.
Obviously, the agreed upon price is dependant on a PERFECT PPI.
If anything comes up, we'll have to adjust the price accordingly or I'd have to find a different car.
My guess is that it will be perfect and I'll overpay a little bit.
Normally, I shop and shop and find the best deal possible. In this case, I have found a local car that is 100% what I'm looking for (providing it passes PPI). Buying sight unseen always makes me nervous.
We'll see how the PPI goes and go from there.

I'm not sure I get these "bad price" comments.
Are there any S cars you can point to with miles like that which have sold for less than $40?

What the actual "buy" price is on any of these cars unknown.
Someone just bought an Arena red C4S with lower miles for $39,000 (asking was $41,000).
I'm not looking for the deal of the century, just the car of the century

Rome - I've been looking around and there are many cars priced higher and some lower.

I think that AR C4S was an exceptional deal. If you're trying to match that deal you might have a lot of searching to do (and a long wait).
So, if the PPI checks out perfect (I'm getting a compression test and leakdown too) and the interior and exterior are great and it's the color I want and the location is right, maybe it's worth a bit more to me. To find one on the east coast would be OK (I live in Chicago). But, I'd have to add flight costs, hotel and gas for the ride home into the cost to compare apples to apples.
If the right car is further (like CA), I'd fly out, check it out, get the PPI, buy it and fly home. Then, I'd have the car shipped.
Add those costs in and I'm getting closer to what be in my back yard!
Honestly, I think I'll have a long wait to find one at $40k that is as nice as this one seems to be.
Just think how much I'm stimulating the economy by paying a bit more than I should

Yes, Mwunder's AR/Black deal was below $40K.
Look at this car, lower miles, near $40K with a buy-it-now, and has already sold:
https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...or-dealer.html
I just passed on a purchase of a '97 C4S, 1-owner, <20,000 miles, highly optioned (>$92K MSRP), great color combo, excellent condition for $44K. Seller was orginally asking $60K. Dealer aquired the car on trade for <$40K.
Jasonfreed sounds like he is doing the right thing. Especially for him, and that's all that really matters. I'll be the first to admit that price is only one part of a value proposition. There are other pieces of the puzzle that need to be factored in like the OP is doing. Smart and responsible.
In the end, a thousand dollors here, a thousand dollers there, does not really matter on a purchase that brings happiness and will be enjoyed over an experience lasting many years.
I like what the OP said:

The car you link to is over 40k in the bidding. ??
I'm not buying. I have a C2S which I'm not selling.
Just commenting on the fact that there always seem to be lots of people saying that the 993S cars are too expesnive at $40K, yet I don't recal hearing of anyone on the board actually buying one for that amount unless it's got really high miles....
