Wet Okole seat covers for Porsche...should do the trick:
http://www.wetokole.com/PORSCHE.html
OEM seat heaters should be easy if you swap out seats from a donor car, otherwise you could consider aftermarket

Seat "Weather Proofing" : Thanks for those 2 links ! I think your idea with the seat cover is probably the most practical ... dont know why I forgot about that option !
Heated Seats : there seems to be a lot of options, I would not be surprised if it is all the same kit, just relabeled... here's another one :
HSK
Cup Wheels : why did you recommend the Cup I's ? are they narrower? or was it the diameter? (in addition to the weight)

Ideal setup for winter is softer sways, softer springs and narrow snow tires. Since the car is already a stout chassis, unless you're an experienced driver and plan to do aggressive driving, you will do just fine with stock sways, HDs and I would suggest you consider Euro M033s over the M030s since they will give you more control in the winter and will do just fine for spirited summer driving. Euro sport height will remove the 4x4 look and RS alignment specs will be a good compromise for a car that will see both winter and spirited summer driving so long as you have dedicated tires for both seasons...in my humble opinion.

i've spent my whole adult life up north. You need ground clearance, good winter tires, rear defroster, a good heater and good starting (oil heater if below 10C). The electrical system had better be in good shape too. A heated steering wheel and seats is a nice luxury.

Optima batteries seem to handle abuse pretty well, at least that's been my experience with them. Anyone else had good luck with Optima's?

Looks like a great project and love the pic's of the Techart car, makes me want Speed Yellow.
So, at the risk of sounding like a smartass, aren't all 993's equipped with heated mirrors as part of the rear window defroster system that works off the pull-out **** on the dash? At least that's what I've been led to believe, but correct me if I'm wrong. My '95 car has it as standard so I just assumed.
Have you relocated to S.F. from D.C.? Sounded like it from your comment about the rear wiper use. If so, we're neighbors sort-of, I'm about 60 miles north of you (on a part-time basis thru Spring, then I'll be moving down full time from Seattle). Looking forward to seeing this machine in person some day. In the days when I used to run up to Tahoe twice a week for night skiing and many weekends, I drove a '72 911E with all-season tires and low profile cable chains (which I think I was forced to put on by CalTrans once, but actually never needed) because rear-engine+rear wheel drive+snow is awesome Having never driven a C4, I can only imagine what that brings to the table ....
Good luck with it all

For the ski rack you will probably have to disable the rear spoiler. With the spoiler going up it is hard to get the clearnce to store the skis. tracke30m3 made a bike rack that attached where the rear bumperettes are. You could use the same idea to anchor one end of the skis while the other end connects to the rain gutter.

Don't paint it white in winter! Once you slide into the snowbank, nobody will find you :-(
Ask me why? I had to climb out through the sliding plexiglass window, as the Triumph was waist deep in snow... Alberta Canada.
Air-cooled thoughts,
Bert
