Default OT: Is it just me or the i-Phone has the worst reception ever?

It's hard to believe, but I'm getting more dropped calls than calls I actually make. Could it be just me?
Please pitch in if you have one.
Thank you!!

Not just you. ATT sucks. I get dropped all the time.

I love the Iphone 3GS though.

Don't blame the phone, it's the network.

It really has nothing to do with the iPhone itself, it has to do with the amount of AT&T bandwidth in your particular area; AT&T has sold so many iPhones and people are using the phone's capability to use the web, watch Youtube videos, hell, you can even stream any NFL game live on there (in surprisingly good quality) if you have DirectTV and subscribe to the Sunday Ticket HD package.

In Boston, fortunately, where I've had an iPhone since it was introduced, I rarely drop a call or have an issue.

I just dumped Verizon (customer since 1998) for AT&T to get the iPhone. No issues so far, at least here in Baltimore, but, then again, I've only had the phone for a few days.

Never a problem except when I am in very specific places in Los Angeles. I had the same issues with TMobile and a Motorola and a Sony/Ericsson, just different specific places.

AT&T does suck, its the network not so much the phone. Before my iPhone I had a Blackberry curve, same dropped calls, and most of them in the middle of Irvine, of all places

I travel weekly all over the country. I have a personal iPhone and a Verizon Blackberry Tour for work. Reception and call quality can be very good for either phone depending where I am.

Overall Verizon's coverage is better. But in CA and other places the ATT network is better.

So success with ATT, or any other network, is dependent on where you are using it.

BTW, my iPhone works great where I live in TX. Great coverage with very few dropped calls.

No dropped calls here. AT&T is pretty good in the rural areas down here, better than the other networks. And the iPhone is the best option I know of.

I don't have any issues with my 3G iPhone here in the DC area and while traveling up and down the East coast.

You're not alone. The phone itself is great (except battery usage); it's the carrier that's the problem. This has been talked about in the tech arena for a long time now.
Here are just a few examples. Do a Google search and you'll get tons of hits.

There are many, many complaints. Rumor has it that Apple will be ending the contract when it expires and let other carriers offer the iPhone.
