Default high-pitched buzzing from dash

almost exclusively happens with I have the fan on and it occurs intermittently, like a thermostat is turning off and on. Is this an issue with the climate control unit?

Do you still hear the fan after the car is turned off?

Could be a bad relay....buzzing is common with a bad relay

its hard to isolate the location of the buzzing...seems omnidirectional. Good thought about the relay, but it would have to be a relay associated with the climate control, right?

Try to check whether one of the multi-conector plugs on the back of the A/C control unit has come lose.

I had exactly the same problem for months, and it turned out to be the one of the plugs on the back of the A/C unit.

It must have come lose when the unit was pulled out at some point.

been there with that buzzing...replaced the fuel pump last year. good suggestion though, but the pump noise wasn't intermittent.

@ Jens - great tip. I recently had the head unit out, so maybe an adjacent plug connector was pulled lose. I'll try it tonight.

If it's not the plug, it could definitely be the fan inside the CCU as cy7878 suggested. I had the same problem.

I have the same issue, but on my car I don't notice it when the car is running, but I do hear it after the car is shut off and seems to buzz up to 10 minutes after the car has been shut off? On my car it seems to come from the climate control unit.

It's the fan on the back of the climate control unit. This is a somewhat common problem. There is a DIY on how to lubricate it.
