Default cup holder question

Hi folks,

While poking around at the local porsche dealership, I noticed that the new 911's come equipped with built in cup holders. It is located in that narrow panel in the dashboard, just above the passenger air bag. That looks like a great idea.

Does anyone know if these can be retrofitted into a 993?

All the best,
Don

AFAIK they cannot be retrofitted. Your options for a cupholder are pretty much limited to:
- VW Passat flip-down cupholder attached to center console
- cupholder from Inventiva Concepts attached to seat rail
- flip-down aftermarket cupholders attached either to center console or door
- factory Porsche 993 cupholder which hangs from door pocket
- aftermarket cupholder that attaches on top of the storage tray at the rear of center console
- roll of duct tape
- wife, girlfriend or significant other sitting in passenger seat

The inventiva one works well, have used it for several years now... seems pricy but is well made.

Cup holders? In an air-cooled Porsche? I usually save my dining for the restaurant. I use the Porsche only for DRIVING!

Funny...............I hadn't imagined something that "basic". You should see the DT wallet I was talking about. It's quite well designed. Here's an image: DT wallet

This company makes a very nice drink holder for the 993. It is avail in our upholstery colors and is very low key - looks like it belongs in the car. I've had one for years and it works well for a large water bottle or coffee.

Can someone post how it actually mounts? I can't tell from the website and feel nervous about "install in seconds"

Thanks
