Default Hey all!

Well, I'm new here, and very pleased to discover this forum! Just wanted to introduce myself, and complement all of you on your site, your content, and your style!!

I do not yet own a 993, but am looking forward to purchasing one in the not-too-distant future (ie year or two). I am on a humble budget, so that's why it has to be future...

I am (like many of you here) in LOVE with the 993 platform on both a form and function level. I find it to be the apex of art/engineering/sport/fun and am really looking forward to owning a piece of that work.

I would like to ask one thing - I tried to search for it a bit, and found the results a little staggering to sort through. I'm sure its probably been asked here before, but here goes (please don't throw things...)

Can you guys give me an essential list of the differences between a Carrera and an "S"??

Thanks again to all for the easy entry into a fabulous community!!

Off the top of my head:

1. The "S" has a body-colored rear split grill
2. The tach has "Carrera S" script on the gauge face
3. Wider rear end (2 inches or so)
4. Different interior door texture
4. Turbo front bumper

The "4S" adds "big red" brakes, awd, regular rear grill, turbo wheels...in other words, the turbo hardware without the turbo motor.

The rocker panel is a little different on the S cars.

The S car is a Turbo body car without the turbo engine. The C4S verison is AWD and comes with the Turbo brakes and suspension. The C2S is RWD and comes with the standard brakes. I think (and someone correct me if I am wrong here) the C2S has the Turbo suspension as well. There are only coupes in the "S" version with only a few (and very few) in a cab platform.

Thanks for all the replies.
Is that really all there is to the difference? No HP difference?
I do love the widebody, but I thought there was more to it than that.

The C4S is 133 pounds heavier than a narrow body Carrera. Both have the same motor (282HP) except the 95 which has 270 HP (Non Varioram)

Because Catcooos, it is about the area under the curve, not the highest point of said curve.

I can understand your confusion. You have a white 993. As you know, white 993s got the strongest engine at the factory. Thus, your '95 could well be more powerful than a '97 or '98 with more horsepower.

Oh, and welcome Zechunique!

I just have to say it again: it is really exciting to find a site like this! I have been lusting after the 993's for a while now, and am really looking forward to "one day" owning one.

Finding a place like this filled with experience on tap is like heading home early on a Friday afternoon on the first sunny summer day of the season.

I hope you guys realize how great this is, and don't ever drift away - I'll be wrenching it eventually, and am sure to need "Houston" to talk me through the proceedures!!

O.K. I shut up now...
