Sweet ride, Harlan and nice cameras, too. I think we'll still be able to get 35mm film for a few years yet... well at least I have no difficulty in getting it from my local shop without any special order.

We know the cars aren't as "body-modifyable" as all the widebody/RS/slop hack jobs we did in the '80's and '90's, but when Shaw or whoever comes up with the appropriate aftermarket parts.............doing a job on a neglected '05 would make for a nice looking car.

I am liking this car better ever time I look at it, but I do think they could loose the name sport classic all together. How about something original like "911 RS."
Not GT3RS, just 911 RS?

^ ^ Justin-- I'd conjecture it needs "997" in the title as opposed to the (in my opinion) overly-generic '911.' Maybe the factory internally calls it the 911 Sport Classic 997? Regardless, the name's already been chosen. No way no how will the company change it at this point in the marketing plan...

It seems history repeats itself within Porsche. Throughout Porsche's history, I have gathered there impeccable creativity when facing tough times. Classic as its automobiles, Porsche has done this many times and succeeded. They are the masters of creativity and marketing no doubt. I am sure they will sell all of them. At least in my mind, the older looking the better!

The 997 just isn't that pretty, especially from the side view; weird proportions. Too back heavy, and the front is wispy and weak in comparison. Sure they fixed the ugly 996 headlights, but the weird 996 styling cues live on in the 997, alas.

Although I like this retro take better somewhat, it's still a heavy, ponderous car with a not-so special engine. So you're paying all that money for drab gray paint, racing stripes, etc. Some folks like shiny things.

Now, if they'd trimmed the weight to about 2800 lbs. and dropped a boosted engine putting out 550 horses, I could see the cost. But they didn't. So it's an overpriced, underpowered pig. A mediocre looking pig, at that.

Give me the Singer 911, which is more of the real retro thing that this car could ever hope to be. I'll pass.

Besides the 1.5 row-high badges for the elongated "S" in Carrera 2S & C4S, isn't this the first to come from the factory with two full rows of badges?

Chrome...very 356. Me like. Color is nice, though the stripes reek of 'Musnag' to me. Carroll Shelby must be crackin' a big grin.

911 Sports Classic? Is that what 'SC' is supposed to mean? Jus' askin'...

I know 'limited editions' are all the rage...boutique sales and all that rot. But the price surcharge is ludicrous. At this price who's ever going to drive one of these with "the intent to thrill"?

Isn't this just an attempt to do what Coca-Cola did when they reintroduced Classic Coke? Too bad that Porsche couldn't go back to the original ingredients which made their cars so special. If I had those bucks to burn, I'd be immediately looking for a mint 993 Turbo S.
