Looks great and makes want to do this myself using stands. Are you doing this inside or outside the garage, e.g. do you need to use a power washer when you rinse off the cleaning material? The reason for this question is because I want to paint my calipers as well, and I dont want to jack up the car twice, once to clean the wheel wells outside the garage and once to paint the callipers inside the garage.

I am just jacking one corner at a time, but I am sure a more lesiurely, successful method would be to get the car on jackstands, then soak and scrub the wheels on a rotation basis.... plus you'd be set to do your calipers 'while you're in there'.

I did mine in the garage with a drain. Nice flat surface to jack from.

FWIW, buy a gallon of diesel fuel. Paint it on, leave for 2 hours, then using rags, wipe off. Repeat as necessary... it will be!!

Cover floor with a heavy rubber based ground sheet, have LOTS of kitty litter over the ground sheet. Smells are minimized if finishing with Simple Green.

Best solvent for this area......WD 40. Softens the shmutz on the painted surface for easy removal.

Playing with new photo software so I thought I'd post these. Guy (briefscape) came by and helped (OK, more like did) the driver's side of my 97. Looks pretty darn good I think. A before/after of the rear and an after of the front.

If you stay on top of them once cleaned they are so much easier to keep clean for the next time! Stay on top of them! I drive mine a lot and just stay on top of it.

Guys, this is unreal. If I get mine this clean, I don't think I will drive the car anymore... Very impressive though...

98% of all my aluminum suspension parts are clean and I drive in the rain with no effect on them at all. They still look like I just cleaned them.
