Don't turn these into garage queens! I routinely put about 15,000 miles a year on my Porsches. (One at a time). Keeping them clean doesn't preclude keeping them on the roads!

100% agree. I drive mine about 8,000 miles a year (and that's because of the snow season when I take it off the salty roads Dec-April. ) As much track and spirited drives as I can squeeze in otherwise...

Getting dirty is just an excuse to clean her up!

I did some cleaning over the weekend...I didn't take any before pics of the rims but I have some after pics...I plan on doing an Andreas style cleaning sometime this December/January and wanted to get a feel of how many days to dedicate to the "Helmet I Winter Olympic 993 Games"

Rims:

After scrubbing on the wheel well, I decided about an hour in each wheel well will get them nice and pretty, then another hour per corner for the suspension pieces.

I let Xenit soak for about 20 minutes in these two spots then scrubbed for a bit with an old shop rag:

The wheel wells were making such a mess I decided to stop and wait until the future so I can prepare myself with brushes and a drop cloth...

As you can see my RSRs need some help:

I also cleaned the exhaust tips:

I didn't put any wax on the wheels, just a 20 minute soak of 303 on each wheel...Maybe I should have put some of the polymer wax on it but I didn't even think of it.

For the tips I used a 1/4" shank wire cup brush, from home depot, about $5:

Yep, I didn't think of it either when I recently received my new wheels and prior to mounting. Sure would have been a lot easier to get a good coating on them then... Anyway, the wheels and tips look great, nice work. I have a pair of that type of tips that I need to clean up and mount.

The 303 should be good for protection, it has worked well on some other metal bits to reduce road grime collection, so we'll see. At least it's an easy job to clean them up and throw a coat of wax/poly sealant on them. I will probably use Optimum Poli Seal if I go that route in the future...

I am patiently waiting for the FDmotorsports.net wide body big oval tips, these tips look a little puny on my WB.

To the OP: I am not intent on stealing the thread, just wanted to add to it for future searches instead of starting a whole new thread...in the maze of rennlist...

Talking Rennlist Peer Pressure Victim

Well, BuffordTJ is coming next Sunday to help me install a new suspension. So I figured I would provide him a clean environment to work with

I had no idea my wheel wells were white. I always thought they were brownish black...

My recipe: Rinse first with lots of water, use a plastic scraper and remove the dirt. Then spray on pure concentrated Simple Green and brush, and rinse. Repeat the last three steps about 50 times per wheel well... Worth it I think.

That's how I used my Saturday afternoon. With a break in between to go with Staton enjoy a cold brew at the brewery

Thanks racingflyer! These are before and after pics taken the weekend before I installed the PSS10's. Couldn't beleave how dirty they were after only 25000 miles. Had they ever been washed?

I'd say it was pretty obvious mine had never ever been washed... in 70,000 miles
