V8 into a 911 is old hat. Almost as old as V8 into a Jag (XKS, especially). The chev 350 is, IIRC, lighter than a 3.6 (someone will remember the specifics...), and can easily be built to produce more HP/Tq. So that's less weight, less costly, and more power. Don't get me wrong, it is not my cup of tea either, but a well-done conversion ought not be confused with a backyard hack's shoe-horn transplant ...IMHO.

Amazing!
Don't think anybody has tried something like this here in Europe (I may be wrong though).

One thing I wonder about is the handling of one of those cars. I mean, the 911 is a car with a very delicate handling already, and that with a dry sumped flat six, which is an engine with a very low centre of gravity. But one of those V8 is a completely different thing, with a much higher C of G.

An ls1, or ideally an LS6 is one of the best swap engines ever made. They are cheap to buy, cheap to maintain, reliably make very impressive power, are small dimensionally, very light, pretty good on fuel, and easy to package.

I don't believe an LSX would create an ill handling 911 if the suspension was compensated properly.

That said, the car in the original link is not very well done. For all those 243 hours of body work, they could have properly done the 993 wiper setup. The motor looks about as racebred as the crap you see in the local $5k box nova. The blue wheel center caps look awful and the interior is not very impressive.

and a 915?????? jeez.

They are getting pretty cheap, I don't know what this one cost, however I have seen them well under $20k Canadian...... Would be an interesting project.

Reminds me of a guy here in town that put a Mazda rotary into a 912... people do the craziest stuff. As many have said, not my cup of tea. But would've made for an interesting project.

Hahaha ...yeah, I seem to recall that one.
And not a bad car, despite the guy having a girl's name

I'm thinking of ripping out the engine in my '07 RS and putting it into a 1970 Ford Pinto. What do you think? COOL???
