Denso is OE

Does the AC compressor whine/growl even if the AC is not turned on? .... if so, it is the pulley bearing ( as it turns all the time - only when the AC is turned on does the clutch lock the pulley to the compressor shaft - obviously .

On most of these cars ( on the 928 for sure), the pulley can be removed and a new $10 bearing pressed in.

EDIT: Oppps - scratch that, you clearly said " when the AC kicks on ...": had the pulley bearing on the brain, as a 928 was recently by with that prob.

Did some more investigating, definitely the bearings in the compressor.

Also, just found out, FD Motorsports has the A/C pump for $279, w00t!

I think if I may ask a similar problem. It's the fan at the engine bay when the engine is off but hot after a run, it's whining and is there a DIY for that?
