Default '95 C4 FS on Ohio Craigslist

Stumbled onto this today while playing with the 'Crazedlist' mass search engine and thought I'd pass it on. No affiliation, etc. Fairly rare color combo, lower miles, looks like an aluminum package, $28K. Might be a good find for someone...

It's definitely a rare color combo. If the interior is chestnut, I'd like to have it. Chestnut does not photograph well and looks much nicer in person. Several years ago I almost purchased a black/chestnut Targa, but the PPI turned up too many problems.

Have spoken to the owner. Does anyone know Specialty Sports Cars in Columbus? I think that's where he's having it serviced.

Here's what I know so far:

Paid $48K for the car 4 years ago. Has driven it about 6K mi.
New rear tires.
Changed the gear oil (I think - he said transmission fluid) recently himself, and has now noticed that the clutch appears to slip at high revs.

Can anyone recommend a PPI shop in Columbus? Anyone want to go look at the car?

Thanks!!

A

Glad someone is looking into this. I think the color combo is great.

Here's a place that came up on a search for threads on PPI's in Columbus.

"Pete Smith at German Village Auto Haus in Columbus, knows Porsches inside and out. Races, too.

I'm about 40 minutes from Columbus. I've heard good things about Auto Assets (www.autoassets.com) @ 614-793-1050. You could also see about speaking to the guys at Midwestern Auto Group - they are a local Porsche dealer. Great guys, spoken to many of them, they've seen my car before. Good luck!

I spoke with him a couple of times.
The first time I spoke with him, he mentioned that the clutch was slipping and was in the process of having a new clutch, pressure plate and such replaced for 1000 bucks.
The last time I spoke with owner he mentioned that the clutch did not need replacing. "It only slips if you rev the engine above 7k" "The way he drives the car there is no issue"
"If the car did not sell, he would install snow tires and use it in the winter"
Makes you wonder how the car was serviced and taken care off?

That's consistent with the story I got from him. It does make me wonder, but I've yet to look at a car for which the stories didn't make me wonder. As far as I can tell, the $28K neurotically maintained 993s are hanging out with the unicorns. I can't seem to find one. (Or at least, not one that is red. or yellow.)

I think that is the quote of the day.
