Default Engine undertray

I had my oil changed yesterday and had the mechanic leave the engine undertray off at the suggestion of so many on this site. The car sounds so much better now it's startling. It makes you want to rev it higher to hear that sound. One interesting thing the mechanic told me was that the factory initially said that the cars wouldn't run as cool with the tray off. Their position now is that it's about the same with or without it. This certainly seems counter-intuitive to me as you're opening a semi-closed space up some but I'm not an engineer (or even particularly bright).

It's deja vu all over again. Mine's been on for the first quarter million miles. Doesen't seem to have hurt it any.

You might do a search of the forum and if you have a week or two, read through all the engine tray threads.

What is this "Engine tray" you speak of?

Seriously, mine came with it already removed and I don't think I've ever actually seen one. I am not sure it matters either way frankly, but I am glad it's gone so it doesn't collect a bunch of gunk.

Attaches to the rear grill for serving up the road kill you cook on the optional exhaust manifold roasting tray.

Just think of what these trays will be worth in 25 years when the classic 993 restoration process begins ...

That's why mine is laying between my back fence and the garage. You just never know.

You could have been the perfect source for the group buy!

I bet you would need it on if you're were competing at Parade in the
Preservation Class.

Carry on...

I actually am in the market for one...my car came with it removed, and I want one on during the winter months. If anyone has one they want to get rid of PM me.

Do any on the new Porsches come with engine trays? I know they shipped the 2010 GT3s without engine trays.
