Engine undertray

I had my oil changed yesterday and had the mechanic leave the engine undertray off at the suggestion of so many on this site. The car sounds so much better now it's startling. It makes you want to rev it higher to hear that sound. One interesting thing the mechanic told me was that the factory initially said that the cars wouldn't run as cool with the tray off. Their position now is that it's about the same with or without it. This certainly seems counter-intuitive to me as you're opening a semi-closed space up some but I'm not an engineer (or even particularly bright).

What is this "Engine tray" you speak of?
Seriously, mine came with it already removed and I don't think I've ever actually seen one. I am not sure it matters either way frankly, but I am glad it's gone so it doesn't collect a bunch of gunk.

Just think of what these trays will be worth in 25 years when the classic 993 restoration process begins ...

I bet you would need it on if you're were competing at Parade in the
Preservation Class.
Carry on...
