So easy that even I could do it, in the dark, by the side of the road.

Reminds me of a trip I took up to visit a friend in Seattle with my SC, and was able to run it. Unseasonably hot weather, and it was a weekday evening event. Ran about 250F chasing this one local guy with his new America Roadster (he ended up getting into racing and running World Challenge and other pro stuff, so it was funny to remember him on his 2nd or 3rd DE and how hard he ran). All was well until I noticed something when I got home after 1000 more miles. Two pistons were broken! Last time I ever ran a 9.8:1 Euro P&C set with CIS............

Thankfully we now have knock sensors.

Bruce, have fun! It's going to be 100deg here today! I'm finding some place with AC to hang out in!

Bring a cooler with a ton of water, gatorade, & of course ice, then a easy up, & sunscreen.

Your tires are going to take a BEATING at PR (very rough track surface)!! Check them after every session for chunking!!

AC while on track??? Not a good idea and trust me that it will definately increase your lap times in the on position. My suggestion is open your windows and drive a lot faster for better cooling..............LOL

Speaking of hot track days, there are a few of us here on Rennlist that remember the very first PCA Club race at Las Vegas Speedway in the late 90's. The air temp that day was 111 deg and the track temp was 150deg and my car had an ambient temp of 135deg in the cockpit!

That day was truly hell on wheels..................LOL

Good luck with your event and keep the shiny side up................ZP44

Do you remember what your oil temps were?

I looked at my notes from the event and even though I ran an uber huge auxillary oil cooler, I still ran between 245-260 deg oil temps depending on whether I stayed out for the entire 20 minute practice sessions or came in early. The car normally ran about 210-220 deg temps in 80-90 deg air temps.

I will admit that I only stayed on the track for 20 minutes once and that was the actual final race on Sunday and that damn near killed me!

PS: I finished 13th overall in a field of 40+ cars and was 1st in PCA Class G that day.

FWIW, WAL-MART and some outdoor & camping provision shops sell neckerchiefs that have little crystals in them that, when wet, swell up. When I know it's going to be very hot at the track, I take two of them and throw them in my cooler. Wear one around your neck and, when it gets, warm, switch out with the cold one. Having something cool near your jugular vein will keep you a few degrees cooler. They come in a variety of patterns and colors and are very inexpensive. When done, just hang them up to dry 'til the foam reverts to crystalline form. Certainly not as effective as a COOL-SHIRT but much cheaper and much more portable.
