Default Very Hot DE Coming Up; Any Advice?

We are having a heat wave here in Seattle where our average is usually 76. On Wednesday for the DE, we are going to be at a forcast 99.

I know we get no sympathy from most of the rest of the world but dang, it is going to be hot.

I have a small umbrella I take to lawn concerts and am thinking of a car cover to keep the cabin a little cooler.

Lots of water. For me...the car needs moving air!

I am so slow I likely will run the A/C! I don't think it will hurt me.

Yikes!

I run a cool shirt, and it's like nirvana in a box. It's about the only thing that will help while you're on the track.

Watch your oil temps if you only have the stocker oil cooler. Drink lots of water and have fun! Please keep your A/C off while on track!

I ran Hallett, Oklahoma a few weeks back and it was 105F. Best advice I have is drink all that you can even if you don't feel thirsty. Drink some Gatoraid occasionally as well to replace the electolytes. Bring sunscreen and a hat.

Overall, my car did great in the heat with no issues.

If you trailer your car to the track pick up an awing. Personally I have a First-Up. Best $100 I have spent on track luxury items.

Lots of water and stay away from the dehydrating drinks like coffee.
Keep the car in the shade if possible (my black car/black interior gets way too hot).
Keep the helmet out of said hot car.
If you lose concentration, take a break. It could be the heat/dehydration.
Watch tire pressures, as they will get hotter than usual (same applies to trailer tires if that is relevant to you; I popped one going home from Watkins Glen when it was 100; I think it was because the ambient was so high).

If you don't want to have to worry about the oil temps pull the resistor plug behind the passenger side headlamp and ziptie it out of the way...your fan will run on high anytime the car is on. Temp gauge should never get past 9 o'clock if you do this.

Big brimmed hat, sunscreen, water, more water, pop-up tent can be had for $50 at target for a cheap one or $100 for a nicer one. If you get the cheaper one make sure you have things to tie it down with as it's not heavy at all and can blow away with a small gust. Did I say water? Two track days ago I forced myself to never leave my tent without water in my hand...I drank 9-10 liters and felt great at the end of the day. Times where I drink half that amount or less I really noticed the difference in my fatigue at the end of the day.

A/C...maybe compromise and run it when you first get in the car to cool it down and then turn it off when you get on the track

Have fun!

I am going to Texas World Speedway quite often.

Everything has been said:

- Water, Water, Water. You need to have a bottle in your hand all time. Drink so much that your pee is clear! If not, drink more
- Go into the shade as much as possible. If you do not have a garage or a tent, make new friends preferably with garage or tent
- The car can handle the heat pretty well (just watch the tire pressures which will be higher)

If you want to do this mod I suggest you try it out well in advance of the actual DE. I enabled high-speed mode on my fan yesterday and after driving around town for a half an hour I started hearing noise from fan. Either a blade came loose or a bearing is toast or ?

I first noticed one time when I stopped. Then I could duplicate it at will by either starting or stopping the car (ignition on/off.) Then, it started doing it as I was driving too, so I reverted back to the standard mode for now, until I can diagnose and fix it.

I have a feeling the fan in my car had rarely if ever seen high-speed mode before, at least for extended periods. And running it continuously like I did broke something.

Bring along a cooler full of iced down bottled water/gatorade and wet towels to wrap or wipe around the neck and forehead between runs.

Move to Alabama!
Seriously, our average is 75 this time of year. I moved from Sacramento 22 years ago and right now I feel like I never left.

Thanks again!

PCA instructor did this for me at a very hot AX and it helped a lot. But I don't know how to undo it!!! Where do you find the plug?
