My car on ebay 96 C4S
Here is a link, call me if questions. I have a couple of interested local buyers, but the eBay add will provide some exposure.
Thanks

I had some unfortunate bad news. I had the car checked out in preparation for sale, the wheels pulled, rotors checked, put on the rack, inspected visually, compression test, all check out fine. I also had Bob Jones (Jones Autowerks, San Antonio) drive it aggresively to make sure all is well. Everything was A ok.
I took it back late last week for a final oil change. When it came into the shop, there was a noise at around 2000 RPM that was hard to pick up on, but did not sound right to the mechanic. After talking it over, Bob suggested cutting the filter and draining the oil to see if there were any unwanted residue inthe system. The filter showed very small copper flaking. I understand that this is the material under the coating of the bearings/rods area. Bob thinks that there is a problem with a bearing at least.
Long story short, I have discontinued the auction and am having it repaired prior to sale. This is not a cheap fix, and will take a while. While this was bad news for me - having moved on and resigned to sell the car, if it were going to happen, I am happy that it did not sell first. I would have felt terrible if I had heard that the new owner had issues in the next year. I wish that this problem had not occurred, and on my mileage car, I think it should not have, but whats a guy to do? I found out a long time ago that it is always easier to do what is right in the long run.
I had offers to sell weeks ago at $38k and with the ebay auction at least overtures of $36 and 37, now I will put in additional money in repairs and not come out as good monetarily, but it is the correct thing to do.
I will be glad to share information on the repair as it progresses, but hope you guys (and girls) do not have a need to look at it for your cars!

What's the cost of repair against selling it and disclosing the issue? If it's a wash why not try to sell the car with the disclosure. It may save you a ton of time and who knows the person buying it may want to fix it themselves or be looking for the "deal" and repair at a late date. This way you can sell the car and be done with it. Just another point of view.

It needs to be repaired. The shame of it is that knowing that you have to do all this work, if I were keeping the car, I would make some upgrades while in there. Incrementally it is little cost, but since I am not keeping it, I am not inclined to pay for the upgrades.
The perfect situation is someone who would like the 3.8, other rods, etc, buying for a discount and putting the upgrades in. They would pay more than the $6-8K repair bill I am looking at, but they would also get a lot more car out of it. I, of course, would sell at a discount to what I was looking at before.
I have had a couple of interested parties suggest this, but it si not easy to put together on short notice. We will see, I hope to have a decision monday.
