Looks good Smitty! Can't wait to see it in person someday. I'll give you a buzz when I get back to the states...

Nice looking car, I really like the shots at the beginning with the standard small exhaust tips, most people switch these over soon after purchase.
Looks like a comfort spec with the electric windows and airbag dash, steering wheel having been swapped at some point......can you take an airbag wheel off in the USA?

Is there any form of register stateside for these cars?...I don't know the answer, but 4 cars in the USA sounds really low to me, I would have thought a few more collectors would own them. Apart from the fun and pleasure of ownership, these cars have and should continue to perform as an investment!

Pj, did you take the pics? Do you know this car personally?

Why didn't you call me to let me know it was around?

The exhaust tips in the first photos are incorrect squarish shape, the car on the lift has the correct ones. I really has issues fitting in the car with the airbag wheel but the none airbag wheel with the raised hub is much better with the recaro shell seats, and I'm NOT a big fat guy either. The DOT keeps track of the cars imported. Currently four M002 road legal cars exist and 5 M003 cars that are not road legal and cannot be made road legal due to the weld in cage however I know at least one has plates. The reason for the low numbers is the insane certification the cars have to go through for EPA and DOT specs. In fact any of the RS cars produced after Jan 1, 1996 must meet OBDII specs as well and would require a full conversion from Euro OBD. The weakness of the dollar has not helped either, many folks that want one are waiting on the sidelines for the dollar to get stronger, currently 30% upside down. As far as a register of cars, currently they are all in my head.

FYI, once these cars, any car for that matter, reaches fifteen years of age it can be brought into Canada pretty much as is. It would have to pass a provincial safety inspection (basic roadworthiness) but little else IIRC.

So, a of Jan. 2010, one hurdle cleared in my quest to have an original, unmolested 993RS in my driveway. Unfortunately there's one more hurdle that will likely stay in place. These cars keep going up in price!!! All the more reason to build a clone/replica/fake.

Tim, you can always come down and buy mine. I'm hanging by my boots on mine, I hate to think what I could have bought instead, a GT3RS and a ton of money left over. Oh well.

Once an image is swirled/smudged/mangled, it gets saved as a brand new one. I see absolutely no way that this can be reversed.

Tks for clarifying the numbers, the global RS market may well change once these cars are easier to import into Canada and the US.

I am ok on the exhaust tip specifics, I still have the small originals on my current RS, I seem to have developed a thing for how they left the factory. To me that is one of the great things with the RS, compared to the extensive list of expensive mods Gt3 owners seem to require on their cars, Porsche did all the work for us on the 993RS.

Yes

My bad

It is pure sex in person...

To see it parked next to the others in his corral is better than a visit to the playboy mansion... well maybe not that good... but you know what I mean.

Agreed, I like the stock as the left the factory only on my RS. The only thing I did not like is the windbag wheel. In the US, the cars must be imported with dual airbags for DOT compliance, otherwise DOT will require your dash be cut apart to allow for dual airbags.......sucks. Solution was to put the airbag wheel in the box the non-airbag wheel came in.

With respect to DOT compliance. Is there a time limit for the US when you can import any car as a classic?...I read earlier it was 15 years for Canada, for some reason I thought it was 25 years for the US, will dual airbags still be a requirement for importing a car under the age guidelines?..cheers.
