Default Airbox

Any real advantage to this?

Descrription = "Orignal Porsche Performance Air Box with extra air intakes & Chrome Intake trim. Gives better throttle response plus induction sound."

Just better sound at WOT, more so if you have Varioram.

Take your cover and drill holes on the side. Same thing, but $$$$ cheaper.

Do you get any HP gain?

How about the one from Fabspeed? I'm looking at the same thing...

FWIW, I just bought a used airbox with the holes drilled out. Way cheaper. After taking the car for a run with it installed, I went back to the stock box. Just wasn't my thing.

So I have a used airbox cover with the holes already drilled going for cheap if anyone is interested. One of the latches is broken (it doen't stay on the airbox cover when removed) but still works and holds it on there just fine.

PM me if interested.

Thanks,

Paul.

A tad loud on the freeway (that's why I sold my '89 targa- wife didn't like how noisy it was on the freeway) and more of a 'hiss' than I was expecting. I could definitely hear the engine more- but I can hear the engine just fine as it is!

So...$20 plus shipping if anyone is interested.

I drilled mine out. Sorry to say but there is no diff at normal crusing speeds. It has more intake noise at WOT (Wide open throttle) ONLY. So if this makes more noise on the freeway you may want to see if the latch is not causing some of the additional noise. Fix it, put it on, you may really liek to noise. Again its only when you really want it. My experience.

Yes, and you can add "motor sound package" to your for sale ad when and if you sell the car... +1,000!

So anyone out there with the Fabspeed option?

I have the OEM Sport airbox and the TT high rise intake. This is coupled with Fister D Satge II Mufflers. A very nice compliment to the car IMHO.

Not exactly...the motorsound "package" included the airbox cover, motorsound mufflers (weak in my opinion) and highly polished stock tips.

If noise = extra horsepower then yes, at least in your mind. Otherwise there is no gain to be had from the extra holes.

So then you need more than just the air box too get improved sound? I thought that might just be the case... Darin thanks for the clarification on this.
