Mark, oh yeah. They were even leather if you can imagine that. Had a pair of red ones too. Probably had The Smiths or The Cure cassette in the tape deck. Good times.

Formula Vee's are powered by the old air cooled 1200cc VW boxer engines.

GTI's are powered by water cooled inline fours.

ahhhh yea. My first car was a black/black '78 that I put a VW motorsport 5-speed in (came with a 4), and had this little shop (Techtonics, I think it was called) build me a 1.8L engine for it - massive, wasn't it :-), I never could afford the Callaway turbo or Oettenger four-valve heads but I did have a number of mods; Neuspeed throttle body, Koni adjustibles, Neuspeed cam, aux oil cooler with Earl's ss lines and fittings, Hella H1/H4 lighting, silver BBS RG rims with Goodyear Gatorbacks, Gillette exhaust, Recaros..... it was such an awesome car (until it was stolen, stripped, and returned to me as a raped shell of a former beauty)

I sure miss that car.

Thanks guys, this thing is like a little toy, everything in the engine compartment is super easy to get to, and dead simple. Now all I gotta do is "move" my '79 911, and my Jag, so I can start working on this bad boy

You're right. Then maybe the cars were Formula Super Vee. Either way, the water-cooled motors were incredibly reliable.

WOW! That's a nice Scirocco. Looks to be complete. I've been driving my old Corrado lately while the 993 is asleep.

Oh man, that pretty much describes my college years. My first brand new car was a black '88 16V Scirrocco w/black leather. Purchased shortly after college. Loved that thing.
