Guys, bottom line if you want a supple ride, stay away from the Bilstein HD shocks, they are stiff. If you want them custom valved, you are better off get the Pss10's.
Really if you want total comfort & lower, just get the whole M033 kit (springs & shocks), it's not that much & will ride smooth & be lower. You just might have to replace the shocks after 40,000mi. I saw some place in the UK selling everything for like $1300.

The PSS-10 is now 1=softest and 10=stiffest. Maybe the manual you have is a left over from the PSS-9s(?) You do have the 10s, yes? 1-10 settings instead of 1-9.
The best thing about the 10s are the adjustment *****, imho. No more counting turns etc.., they just click in place.
Your mechanic is probably used to the 9s.

I have the M033 and the Monroes and find the ride/comfort on the street just right (NJ roads!!). The M033's lower the car about 1-1.5 inches and the Monroes have a threaded collars that allow you to make the fianl adjustments. The car handles so much better than the USA stock set-up. The best price I found was Sunset Porsche in Oregon. I believe a paid $700 for shock and springs.
Now that I am tracking my car more, I am thinking about the PSS10's for next season. No issues at all on the track, but as my speeds are picking up and as each track surface is different, I can see the benefits of an adjustable shock - especially since this is my DD as well.
I hope this helps.
