Another suspension question....Bilstein HD & Mo33 springs
I have a '95 C2 with the stock suspension that I want to upgrade. After reading countless posts on suspension upgrades here's what I think I want to do.
First off I don't track my car and want to maintain the ride quality and also lower the cars ride height. I'm considering purchasing the Bilstein HD struts and shocks along with a set of Mo33 springs. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but the Bilstein struts and shocks bodies are threaded which will allow me to adjust the height and the Mo33 ROW springs will also help in lowering the car while maintaining a (lack of a better term) softer ride. Will I be able to accomplish what I want with the above set up? Suggestions on sourcing parts.
Anyone running this set up?
Thanks in advance, Randy

Randy, I just went thru this decision dilemma and decided on Bilstein PSS10s. I wanted the exact same thing you want, but wanted the adjustibality that the PSS10s offer. Not sure if there is a big price delta in the setup you want vs. the PSS10s. Check w/ Viperbob on this site for pricing info.

I had looked at both and there's about a $800 difference. It's not all about the money. I don't feel like I need the PSS10 if I can get height adjust with the standard Bilstein HD.

I'm with ga993. Exact same delema. MO33's would PROBABLY be just fine for me BUT ride height adjustability and ride comfort adjustability swayed me to PSS10's. I get them delivered Monday and installed by next weekend. The price delta was only about $500 as I recall. PSS10's delivered, installed, aligned, corner balanced for $3,200. like you said ....'it's not all about the money' and I did not want any buyers remorse.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I think Brandon is suggesting the adjustable shocks so you can dial in exactly how much softness/stiffness you want, is that correct Brandon?
(I take interest in this thread because I may be going down the same road in the future)

Shake, correct. You can adjust the damping by 10 different settings (comfort to sport) which determines softness/firmness. I just got mine back last week. My mechanic set them to 10 all the way around and told me to play with it until I am comfortable. It's great, but I am going to dial them to 8 rear and 7 front next just to see if there is a real recognizable difference.
From what I understand (and I could be wrong), you can get the height you want w/ the M033/HDs, but you are pretty much stuck w/ the firmness of the ride.
In the end, I opted to spend the extra $$....maybe it's more marketable down the road??

p.s. I tortured myself over this same decision (Mo33s/HDs vs. PSS10s) for 8 months, so I feel your pain.

The PSS-10 setup makes things almost infinitely adjustable. I've been playing with various settings depending on the kind of driving I'll do. It's been well worth the extra initial cost. I'm very glad I did it.
IMHO, it's not really about which component choice is softer versus firmer, but how you can dial in or out the ride you want. And the PSS-10s allow you to do exactly that. And you don't even need to put it on a lift, if you don't mind squeezing yourself under the car
Anyway just my ten cents.......

I've had the M033 & Bilstien HD for 5 years now, as many on here have posted the HD's are fine on smooth roads, otherwise they are overdamped too stiff. I would get the PSS10's if I were you.
I am curious to know which setting on the PSS10's is the equivalent of the HD's

I've also had the same M033 and HD's for about 5 years and I think the the ride quality is fine (and don't forget we have some pretty rough roads her in the UK). I'll admit at slow speed the ride is a bit 'jiggly', but as speed increases everything settles down and stays well planted and damped. Incidentally I have the standard HD's without additional length threads (I think Carnewel sells them) and the ride height is still OK (lower than standard, but not as low as RS settings etc) without looking to racey. The main thing is though that the HD's are such a massive improvement over the stock Monroes.
