Default What is the most efficient way to make my car go fast?

I love my 993 C4S, it is a real piece of classic and love everything from the way it handles to the clunk noise from closing the door. However, I am thirsty for horsepower.. I also have a 996 TT that runs~ 600 whp and I am having considering if dropping a 993TT engine would quench my thirst for more horsepower.

What do you think? Should I do it? If not, what do you suggest I can do to make more torque and hp?

sell your car and buy a 993TT. That's probably the smartest approch IMO vs. dropping a 993TT motor in it. A 993TT is probably a $20k premium over a C4S (just a guess). You would probably spend at least $10k doing a decent turbo or supercharger conversion and it won't be as good as the original and there will be no re-sale value (if that matters to you).

I don't think a chip and cat bypass will satisfy your thirst, and to supercharge or turbocharge your engine is quite involved. Sell your 993 and buy a 993TT. Don't molest your current 993. Just my .02 cents.

Supercharge it man. After looking at options for sometime I have to admit that is good bang for bucks, bolt on bolt off, and the used SC will sell like hot cakes. If I had lots of cash and lived in England I'd do the 9M upgrade. Or just get the 993 TT.

Buying a 993 TT is definitely in the thought as well. That being said, my tuner has a sportec 993 TT engine for sale, it is making about 520hp forthe price of 25K us, although the c4s and the TT pretty much share everything except the engine, but I doubt dropping the sportec engine will increase the value anywhere close to a 993 TT if I happen to sell it in the future.

If not that, buy a 993TT rather than modifying your car.

I'm all for regear and trans but I am thinking we are missing the keyword to better performance here (and especially so for the C4S) and that is:

Weightloss.

Driver training, weightloss, regear/LWF, 3.8 conversion...lots of high dollar options.

Here's a less expensive approach: I don't know at what level your driving skills happen to be, but no matter what they are, we can always be better. Unless you're already there, why not invest the $ in yourself by attending a very good driving or race school? Then you can drive all your vehicles to their limit (which is far more satisfying to me than simply giving a car more power).

Other than pushing it downhill, there is really no way to make these car faster without forking out some serious bills.

+ 1 Driver education.
Then or at the same time sell the car and buy a TT, then reduce weight.
