Default RSRs plus SPORTSCAT ?

does anyone run RSR's with a 100 or 200 cell sportscat (rather than straight through decat pipes) ?

I woulkd be interested in any views or comments or sound files on this setup

I have RSRs and whilst I like the sound for my tatses its still a bit boxed in and I would like to open it up some more so you can hear more of the mechanical gurble and burble of the engine.

regards

Rich

OEM cats + RSRs + tips= 25+19+3=47
Sport cats + RSR's + tips= 16+19+3=38

OEM cats + Supercups = 25+12=37
Cat bypass + RSR's + tips = 7+19+3=29
Sport cats + Supercups = waaay too loud.

Yep, 100-cell sport cats with RSRs was my favorite setup. IMHO, cat bypass with RSRs sounds really farty, while the sport cats don't cause that strange sound.

And since sport cats are so cheap now, it seems like a no brainer to me. (but remember, use 200-cell if you have OBDII)

I have now have RSRs and sport cats on my C4S and am very happy with the sound/volume. I purchased the car with Fister IIIs and cats, which was way too loud for my taste. I then tried stock with the cats, which was nice, but too calm. The increase in volume and deeper tone with the RSRs, compared with stock, is just right for me.

I also am running RSRs with the SportCat X-pipe setup... I am VERY pleased with the sound! It's hard to describe the soundbut ity is in no way too loud... In fact, when I first cranked it up, I was a bit disappointed. That was until my friend convinced me to come stand behind the car while he reved the engine a bit... WOW, what an improvement over the RSRs alone! The exhaust has a much deeper tone to it and it has just a hint of burble on deceleration. Two weeks now I have had them installed, and I drive around all the time with the windows down just so I can hear it! RSRs with the SportCats is an awesome combination! Highly recommended!

People have reported CELs running 100-cell cats on OBDII cars. Others have reported that there's a "fix" for this, meaning you do something to an O2 sensor so it doesn't throw a CEL. I'd guess it involves a simple spacer to get it some fresh air (VW/Audi guys do this) but those who know seem to be sworn to secrecy for some reason.

I would be interested in finding out what the trick is as I have 100 cell cats and soon as I put them in and drove a little bit I got a CEL saying it was my post O2 sensors. No CEL with these O2 sensors before the swap.

I don't know about CEL's and all that because we don't have that, but I do know that DachX and RSR's sounds pretty darn good. I just love mine..... and so do a lot of others.....

Yup that's typical. Your ecu expects to see different readings pre and post cat, but now your o2 sensors are reading about the same. Have you searched on sport cats and cel? Perhaps somebody posted the solution at some point but I've never seen it.

So what kind, how much, and where can you get them?

I haven't gotten sport cats yet but I figure I'd go with these:

Dansk and Fabspeed also have sport cats.

And fvd was selling the Dansk, at least as of a few months ago. Price was around $1100 IIRC (which is less than half what they and cargraphics used to sell for!). Fabspeed is similar. Not sure about Dach.

Thanks. Cheap is relative, but I really didn't have a clue.
