Gruppe M front spoiler?
Hey guys.
Browswed a few posts and came across this wonderful front spoiler. Never seen it before. It seems to be based on the TurboS chin spoiler but then extended forward and downward to provide additional downforce and a more aggressive look.
I have always loved the Turbo S chin spoiler but I've read (if I recall correctly) that it doesn't do much in the downforce department. Maybe this is the ticket?
Price is around 100.000yen, which equates to about $1000. I think that's about the same price as the OEM Turbo S chin spoiler.
Anyone tried thisone? Pictures? Are Gruppe M products high quality?
Thoughts?

I remember reading an article about Gruppe-M a while ago. It was essentially a small operation with the main guy who was RUF trained and started his own shop in Japan, specializing in tuning Euro cars for the Japanese market.
Like a lot of the Japanese small tuning houses, it make him sound like a stickler for detail. They went through how he spent months getting a NSX exhaust to sound like an F1 car.
Spoiler looks nice, but man, it looks low.

I think the look of it is OK as long as it is balanced with someting on the rear of the car.. I have a GruppeM intake on my E46 and the quality of the product is very good.

I know it snows in Japan. But using the 993 as a snow plow? Surely they can do better.
kidding aside, I love the look on the car. Love the color too (I thought that was a BMW M exclusive)?

To answer some of the questions. The car in the picture is Blue Turquoise (3AS), which is a very nice color. The car is also a WB 993. I agree it would have to be balanced but I think it would work on a turbo, even with the standard TT tail. It would look better with 3piece wheels, rather than the twists.
I hear ya on the low clearance. Our roads here in Europe (at least in Sweden) have less potholes and the driveways are not as steep as in the US (at least thats my experiance). I wonder if the clearance really is that much lower than the TurboS chin spoiler. I think it's more the angle that makes it look low. It's obvious that the spoiler renders an FPB useless but I must say I really like the look . Very aggressive!

Regarding increased downforce and balancing the front and the rear, depending on how fast you drive, having greater downforce on the front of the car without an equivalent increase in downforce on the rear of the car will make the car light in the rear and very difficult to handle at speed. If you're just a "boulevard cruiser," the imbalance won't be a big deal, but if you drive at high speeds, such an imbalance could put you int the weeds.

I like the look but my car is lowered significantly and there's no way for that thing. It would be ripped to shreds in a day. I'm still looking for the correct spoiler for my needs. The RS spoiler looks pretty good.

I hear ya.. Maybe at RS height that thing would be impossible to use. The fact that it's extended forward doesn't really bother me.. Just look at the RUF front bumper, that is extended far more than this spoiler.. Like I said, I love the look but I wonder if it would be stupid to put that thing on. For me it's either thisone or the Turbo S chin spoiler.. Decisions decisions..
