Default Please Help! - Broken rear swaybar mount

So at the last track day the car was displaying a little extra understeer than normal. Had done some flipping of tires and just put it down to pressures.

So a decision was made to stiffen the rear sway bar (TRG's on the car) and this is what I found....(See Photo)

What are my options here, my guess is the entire crossmember.. Any thoughts or options would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone know the difference between the 95 and 96 crossmember, there are different part numbers in the PET....

Wow. This is no good. You'll be better off replacing it. Check the wrecking yards.

Here is a 'roller' though it appears that it's being sold complete. And the photos make me nervous just to look at them, but here's the link:

I've never seen that happen before (and I've seen a LOT go wrong). Do you have any pictures of the sway bar mounting to the shocks? I know they are TRGs, just want to make sure the rest of the setup if OK. In seeing this, my first thought is some sort of binding that caused the problem (cause and effect).

The car has had PSS9's on for the last 4 years or so without any issues. About 12 months ago i re lubed the swaybar bushings all around and everything seemed to move very freely.

I am going to pull the car apart over the next few days and will post the pics. Any insight from you would be greatly appreciated....

Those thoughts did come to mind. Good question!

I'm surprised it didn't shear the bolts instead, but I guess it depends on where it was loaded on the mount. Will be keeping a close eye on this thread for sure! Please keep us updated.

Reminds me of all the fun we had over the years on torsion bar chassis cars and rear stabilizer bar mounts.............. Hopefully this is explained by the aftermarket bar and its operating geometry.

They were my thoughts exactly..... I am going to work on the car today and will have some pics of the mounts etc tonight. Hopefully someone will see something that I don't.

Check your control arm too.... If it bound/contacted the arm you may have additional problems...

[edit] by control arm ... I meant toe link.... trying to remember all of this while at work.....

Sorry to hear about this Steven. The season is short enough around here without downtime! It would be interesting to see what the drop link to sway bar arm angle looks like. Hopefully you can source the parts quick.
