Grrr... I'm at the dealer and they can't fix it. Never had an issue before. My remote wouldn't work and I manually unlocked the door and quickly tried to crank it. No dice. He tried to reprogram. Got the car started but the remote still won't work. Car is running now but can't turn the alarm off. He plans to unhook immobilizzer but says the flashers will still act as if armed. Any help?

From the initial sequence of events ( remote no workie, key into door, ...) cycle the door locks with the key a few times, to assure that they 'click' into place .... and are not resting in some intermediate position that sends a false signal to the immobilizer .... and I'm sure the remotes' battery was checked/replaced too ...

Continued...
At the gym this morning. Went out and the remote wouldn't work. Borrowed a ladys car that worked there and went to get my spare remote and reproamming instructions. I had left the horn disconnected, so that helped, as it did not go smooth. I think the main prob was that my key was not unlocking the door properly. Finally the remote started working, though. The spare doesn't, but I am afraid to try and program it. I put new batteries in both remotes after this time, even though both seemed fine. I'll start carrying my spare key and maybe next time if I have to do it again, this one will work better.
Ugh, not something you want to deal with after clean & jerks.
How can I eliminate this thing!?

My wrench told me it's all tied into the ECU and we're kind of stuck with it.
I'm sure it was a high-tech selling point (in Porsche's eyes) at the time, but it's the one thing that makes these cars a PITA sometimes.

that's what my dealer said too, but I think we are more creative than that. RS didn't have it. Early 95 didn't have it. There has to be a way around of wihout reworkng the whole car!

I think a butterfly in china just flapped it's wings and stirred up a mad cloud of dust under your car. Now get under there with a Qtip for a few hours.

Ha Ha, funnyman! As for Q-tips, that's nsully's domain....
My sled is actually filthy from last weekend's trip to visit my parents, and then the return trip up the Outer Banks in horrific weather.

If it is intermittant.....have you opened up the remote and checked the contact on the button, the little silver thing that makes contact may be gone or out of place. Ive had a piece of tin foil on mine for quite a while to get it to work and make contact.
just a thought.....
