996 TT or a Mustang Bullitt ?

996 TT or a Mustang Bullitt ?
I'm trading my Tacoma in for a different Daily Driver. I can get a 58K 2001 996 TT Tip for 34000 or a new 09 Mustang Bullitt for 25000.
Kind of a odd choice, but I'll still have my 993 C4S to have fun with.
Any thoughts NO FLAMES please

Lets see. You're keeping the C4S. Somehow the new car for $9K less seems to have more appeal to me over the older car which is just an uglier, if faster, duplicate of the Porsche you already have. If re-sale or depreciation don't play a big part, I'd go with the Mustang.

The depreciation is kinda important too, as i have a hard time staying in a daily driver for more than a year or so. Hoping the Bullitt will hold some value in the market. The 996 TT is priced low and alot of car for the money and the wow factor is certainly there, but the warranty on a new is nice to have on a car that will undoubtably sit in the rain and not get washed all that often, and its a kinda neat car in its own right.

Do you have a beater that you can use to haul dogs, go to Home Depot, park at the airport or in bad neighborhoods and not worry about? No matter how cheap, I don't think a 996TT is suitable for that. Daily driving also means high maintenance. Do you really want to do that with a 996TT?
I'm thinking about a cheaper Mustang just so I can have a cheap convertible.

Remember, you ARE asking this question on a Porsche board, so a little bias is to be expected. OK now that I see that you're planning on keeping this only a year or so and depreciation IS a factor, the Mustang is less alluring.
But the idea of two Porsches, to me, seems slightly redundant. Unless you're talking, say, a Cayenne and an old 911S for example.
Obviously, this is a very subjective question. I think the best advice here is go with your gut. Deciding which kick *** car to get is a great quandary to be in, for sure!

I would say 996TT I had one and loved it, that car will destroy the mustang in a strait line, twistys and overall cool factor. Not to mention for a 1k flash it will push close to 500hp. I know there is a lot of hate on the 996tt because they dont look nearly as good as the 993 but, they are a great car. They are reliable, fast, practically bullet proof, exotic for 34k? Plus you already have the best looking car 993 widebody so you can still drool over that.
I am less jaded than most because I started at 996 and then got 993. I would be worried about that price for that car. i know they have come down a ton but, I would be careful. 100% ppi. Maintenance will easily be 3x as much as the stang. Seriously if you are worried about resale, what do you think the stang will be worth in 5 years? Those TT's wont drop below 25k, at least I would hope not or I will buy another as a 4th car. Usability is not a strong suit but, really I dont see the stang having that much more room than the pcar.

Barely anything on the road could even come close to touching it. I had a stang GT pull up to me on the highway at 60mph, I didn't even downshift from 6th and still took him.

Forget the Bullitt. You know for a fact there's no collectiblity there. It will depreciate faster than a pair of cement "booties" tossed overboard...unless it was the one that Frank Bulllitt actually drove. And that live axle? They're all overweight "Miss Piggys". Believe me, I know!

Get the Mustang. It may not be the car the turbo is but you can drive it anywhere without worry and you won't obsess about keeping it perfect. Add in the lower maintenance costs (and probably insurance) combined with the fact the turbo is a tip and that you still have a toy for the weekend and it's an easy decision IMHO.
